Question 81 240D Timing Chain Tension

I was adjusting my vavles and checked the tension on the timing chain. the first picture is it just sitting there, and the 2nd one is me pulling up on it.

as you can see there seems to be no slack, i do not know when the last time it was changed but looks like recently.

so is my chain good?

That isn't exactly the accepted method of checking for chain elongation....

I dont know how to check the chain exactly. but i bought the car 1 yr ago with no info on what had been done to it. the odo was stuck at 136000. i put a new/used gauge cluster in it and since i started driving it ive only gone about 500 miles.

what do you mean "degrees of elongation" ?

that is a way to check timing chain stretch on a chain that does not have a tensioner... MB's DO have tensioners, so there would be no lifting of the links.
the way to check chain stretch on our motors is turn the motor until the timing mark on the cam gear lines up with the tdc mark on the head. then check the position of the crank pulley. the amount it is off, is how much the chain has stretched.
