Arrow Injectors and Injection Pump

Personally I would think that most of the other items could get by-passed or replaced with something else that will do the job......
Vacuum Pump to Electric Vacuum Pump, and stuff like that.....
But the Bosch Injection Pump and it's internal parts as well as the Injectors, Heat Shields and related parts like the Vacuum Shutdown Device......will be the hardest and/or the most expensive to find......
MB may make you a part "if you can afford it".....but I doubt that Robert Bosch will have the same sentiments.....you will probably have to talk to those "crafty" Finns......in 10 years or so......

I wouldn't worry about it, in ten years you will be able to walk into the dealer and get just about anything you need, just like you can today. Some parts will be more expensive, but they will be available.

If you are trying to keep it going on just junkyard parts you won't be driving it in 10 years anyway.

Yeah tell me about it. Most W126/123's I see this days have one foot in the junk yard already. Totaly rusted or just beat.

Huh?

If you mean that if you go looking for cars in the junkyard 10 years from now, I agree. That's why my house looks like a Mercedes junkyard NOW. My local upullit has a 50% off everything sale last weekend - I am sorry that there was only one W123 ( and a coupe NA, too boot) at the time

No, I mean if you keep patching a car together with 20 year old parts from a junkyard you will never be able keep up with the failures for the next 10 years. The junk parts are probably only slightly better than the broken parts you are replacing. Eventually you will not be able to keep up and will give up on the car. If you are not willing to buy new parts now, are you going to be willing to do so when the supply of used parts is gone in a few years?

In my case, I drive about 40K miles per year, so that's 400K more miles over the next 10 years. I will be doing well if most of the new parts that I install now are still working in 10 years. Installing junkyard stuff would be a complete waste of my time if I'm planning on keeping the car reliable for the long term.

Ok, well,... I only get choice parts from the junkyard for my stash. For example, I only pull starters and alternators that look like they have been recently rebuilt. I have a Chrysler climate contol servo that has been rebuilt with the alloy central section, etc. I have an entire W123 body in detachable sheetmetal and half a W116. I have about 20 wheels ( I just bought 2 wheels with tires with about 90% tread left for $7 the pair) I have spare OM616 and OM617.952 engines, a known good 722.315 tranny , 2 parts trannys for it, a 722.120 and a manual (that will eventually go into the 77240D, if I ever need it, and will free up its 722.1xx)

When I bought each of my cars (other than the '77 240D which is a total backup for catastrophic loss), I rebuilt the suspensions with new rubber, ball joints, shocks- the works. Over the next 20 years of driving, I can't imagine 2drivers using up the remaining theoretical 600K miles or so left on these 4 cars.

Rick-in it for the long haul
