ATP Turbo

I too had ordered the wastegate from ATP Turbo on September 4 and have had no news regarding future availability. I figure I'll just let my order float around in their system in hopes that if they manage to get a part or two in sometime it'll be at the top of their list.
I'll let everyone know right away if it ever arrives. In the mean time, thanks to all of you looking hard for viable alternatives. There's a lot of options out there and I'm sure one of them will work for us.

Damn all of you! I jumped the gun and got the ebay cheapy one and controller. Seems to be working fine though. I am curious to see what my fuel economy will be. I doubt it will be as good as my return trip home that one time.

Oh well, too late for now.

You can just re-do it!

Do you need a manual boost controller to do this? Can't you just adjust the length of the wastegate rod?

To do the swap with the ATP supplied actuator? No.

To use the actuator that I did from eBay? I did. The ebay actuator kicks off at 7 psi or so. Half that of ATP/stock setup. The controller was only $10.

So you're using the MBC to limit the boost the WG sees and it holds it closed longer?

I appreciate the info, it sounds like the Garrett ones are around again, I was just curious. When the '92 comes back from the body shop I intend to do the swap.

Yup, exactly what I'm doing. I think it peaks at like 10 psi right now. I haven't really messed with it further. I drive 99% highway so I'm going to tune it more for that and if possible more economy.

Anyone know what the 602's peak efficiency rpm is?

I have the 1992 602.962 engine. Where do I acquire the block-off plates for all of the open orifices, including the exhaust port. Do I just leave the exhaust tube in place that connects to EGR and cap it? I am currently waiting on a reply from ATP regarding stock of the actuator.

You can leave everything in place, there's no need to remove it. Otherwise you'll have to fabricate block-off plates, or buy the kit from Brian Carlton, but it's easier to just leave it alone.

Thumbs up

Thanks gsxr, you da man! So all I need to do is disconnect vacuum from emissions and install the new actuator set-up. Sounds too easy.

Exactly correct. The hard part is installing the new actuator setup, the rest is a breeze.
