The best junkyard find I ever had was a money clip with 5 $100 bills in it. Didn't take long for that to disappear into my pocket

Talking Just fancy that!!!

I found a wedding dress in the trunk of a silver W123 300 Turbo Diesel!!!

This was in San Francisco. The car had a valid yellow "C" resdential parking sticker on the rear bumper; that meant it was from Chinatown/Nob Hill.

Kind of reminds me of the pink bundle I found in Candy --- 3 DVDs. It was the pink bundle that peaked my interest. What kind of a person carries their porn in a pink drawstring bag??? Nevermind, do NOT answer that.

DING, DING, DING!!! WOW!!!! I found almost $4 in loose change one day. I'm going to have to start marking the cars that I've already searched.

I found an "Ernies Independent Mercedes Service" license plate frame in the interior of a 300d non turbo. Ernies is the family mechanic of several local forum members and he was the previous owner of my 300sd, he had the car for 8 years. I gave the plate to nick because he needed one more

In my cars the most interesting items were, certainly the Moroccan Spare change from the late 80's.

In junkyards, i've found a bag of pot behind the driver door panel... however the stuff was half decomposed; rain got to it.

Back in the early eighties, at Lajoie's junkyard, in South Norwalk, CT., My buddy Jerry Quinn and I found a sterling silver zippo lighter. He let me keep it.

Things I've found in cars:

Full, unopened beers (several)
An unopened can of black olives
$28 in change (best one-day haul so far)
Porn (lots)
Knives (various types)
Forks and spoons
Cups and glasses
Clothes (all kinds)
Drugs, prescription
Drugs, OTC
Ammunition
CD's, usually scratched and usually of Mexican music
Mail
Personal information including pay stubs and other stuff with names, addresses, phone numbers, Social Security Numbers, bank account numbers, etc.
Family photos
A current driver's license from the PO

And of course the usual trash.

Did I mention I work at a junkyard?

Several years ago I found a pipe and a bag of weed stuffed back under the plastic trim that holds the sun visors.

The best junkyard find I had was in 1988. Someone had started a complete restoration on a 1967 Mustang. Interior gutted, but all parts present, body reworked, still in primer, engine just overhauled, but would not start with new battery, starter motor, new plugs, points, condenser, ect. The owner thought he screwed up the engine overhauling it.

I was at the yard when it was pulled in. The yard gave $200 for it. I immediately offered $750 to the junkyard. Sold. Never left the tow truck.

My friend, a bodyshop owner repainted it the original silver-blue. The interior went back in after a new $100 carpet and a new headliner that caused a divorce. She told me that if I expected to fix up old cars in the future, I could forget it, she wasn't going to allow it. As for the newly rebuilt motor, it is amazing what connecting the groundstrap will do. It ran like a champ.

The really cool thing about this car is that it was built on the first day of production to be used as a dealer demo for the new body style. It included almost every option available on a 1967 Mustang, except for the GT package. New features included an overhead console with reading lights, a bench front seat, 8000 RPM tach, in dash air conditioning, chrome interior trim, AM/FM radio and it was power by a code A four barrel engine.

Not only did I get a terrific car, but I got rid of my ex. Such a deal!

Back when I was living out around the bay area, I went to a yard in Vacaville, and found a fresh Fairfield PD Crown Vic, looked like a "passenger" had set the rear seat on fire, only had rear interior damage to it. They tossed the car out to the yard without even stripping it down, SCORE!, dashcam & recorder, lightbar & siren, mike & police band radio, switchbox, dash mount radar gun, etc. Not a lick of it had any damage......

Uuummm, did you have to pay half price for that? Most junkyards these day seem to charge 1/2 price.
