new windshield question

I need to replace my windshield. I can go through the insurance and get one for free by law but it wont be the correct glass. I also want to have my car painted so I need to get a new gasket and probably clean up the gasket surface. Would POR-15 on the gasket area cause any issues?

I need to do the rear glass as well since I found evidence of some rust.
