About 10 years ago Mercedes-Benz quit putting out a list of approved motor oils. The Star magazine of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America (MBCA) used to publish the list when it was used. Mobil Delvac 1300 15W-40 was listed as a recommended oil for diesel engines, turbo and non-turbo; note it is 15W-40. Also M-B did not say the list was all inclusive, it was a list of oils they tested and approved. I have been correctly using this oil for many years, however I would not be opposed to switching to a newer formulation if there were a better one.

So bottom line is I can mix the two for my moderate climatic temperature needs here in North Carolina?

I would not mix the two. Delvac 1300 15W-40 would serve you well all by itself, just as it does up here in Wisconsin.
