Thanks... 18's.... same as E55, other than not being staggered in the rear.

I plan on sourcing the "Sport" appearance pacakge for my E300. I will keep my gray impact strips. I found a link with some photos of an E similar to mine in color and appearance ot hwo it should look, minus the Monster truck stance and 17" monoblocks.... I am a fan of keeping it "vintage" specific. So if you were able to get teh Sport appearance package on a '97 E300, this is how it should look.

Thumbs up So Far So Good

99 E300 TD purchased in August w/79K original miles from NW Benz dealer . Running on B-5 (much quieter than #2USLD) getting 27-28 mixed avg 32-33 on freeway trips. Changed AT fluid w/Febi spec. Original fluid had not been changed came out almost black, but the pan was clean, no visible particles, about 5K so far since. Very pleased w/ride and performance. Used to own an 89 190D, still sorry I let her go . Planning on getting 300-400K out of the 99.

Don't see why not. My '96 (which I got from Shoe here on the forum, who got it at around 275K from another forum member) has just about 409k on it right now and runs like a dream.

Only had mine for about 2 weeks but it sure is nice. 96, 111000, 1 owner, garage kept, comprehensive maintenance history, southern vehicle, new set of Uniroyals. Paid 7k. Had 1 bad glow plug - lost some sleep over that - but it came out easy. Pulled the rest (original) out and doped them up with anti-seize and put them back in. Some folks say to not even bother with the 96-97 non-turbos but I feel like it gets along just fine, you got to make it downshift to really take off but I don't mind that. Ill report back

"Chipping" with Speed Tuning USA is supposedly very effective...and fast.

Haven't done it myself and don't have plans to (yet)

I've never heard of air conditioned seats, nope.

Renntagg, your car and mine are the only E300 TDs I've seen in that color. Congrats on the purchase, I think you will find the car very enjoyable.

The car gets really nice freeway mileage, safe, comfortable, etc...
I thought I would never get over my W126 diesel, boy was I wrong!

If you've driven both the W210 and the W126, there is no question that the W210 comes out ahead in driving experience. It's a lovely care to drive.

Build quality is a completely different question.

Had reported above an MPG of 40+ on a highway trip. Too good to be true, I suppose, as I realize at the next fill that it must have not been topped off because the in-town driving recorded 21 MPG...it always averages close to 25-26 around town. By re-adjusting by a gallon I get that up to about 25, and that menas my freeway trip probably came out around 35 mpg, which is what I have recorded on several other trips. Sorry for the misinformation and wanted to correct it!

I have found some disparity in MPG's related to not always being at a consistent fill level. Sometimes I can sqeeze another 2 gallons on there after the hose pops off, and sometimes only a half gallon.

Here again, if that were really the case, and the car was really getting 40+ MPG, he would be driving 844+ miles on a tank.

I believe your calculations are off.

The car has a 21.1 gallon fuel tank, you should be getting 886 miles per tank.
