I have the older version of this VM Motori engine in my AMC Eagle (6 cyl IDI Diesel). They have head gasket problems (older engines), and not sure if the newer version is much better.

Some window regulators I've had to do twice on the 300SDL, and only one of them has never had to be touched so far. So that's well over 4 on that car. Vacuum leaks take the place of electrical shorts for killing the locks. Pretty close comparison.

If I were going to take the unaffordable plunge into a cheap plastic Jeep, then I'd rather have the 0(6?)ish Grand Cherokee with the M-B diesel in it. If you've got to go plastic, at least go BIG and plastic.
