Dead battery? I'd try to get a jump ASAP!

Could be your voltage regulator went out?

Little late, but, I carry one of those jump start packs with me...

You can jumper/bypass the neutral safety switch with a wire, there is a 3-wire connection just ahead of the brake booster IIRC.

Have you tried to whack the starter with a tire iron or some other bar you can find?

Worked in my 123 wagon when I was having electrical problems - Would get lights and radio, but not enough juice to engage the starter. whacking it got it to spin enough to start and get me out of the parking lot I was stuck in.....

Yes.

Juice is there, nearly new battery. Nothing on the key turn. No solenoid click. Nothing.

If I were you I'd consider taking this advice - generally speaking starters don't just stop working like you are describing. There is usually some form of warning.

Yes, but a wire to which pins. Do I undo the connector, just loosen it? Jump the pin side or the socket side? I am lost here. Not an electric0al guru.

Sorry I'm a W123 owner so I can't give you an exact answer - my guess would be to jump the side of the plug that goes into the cabin.

For a better answer you could ask vstech he's a man who would probably know for sure - he's also more likely to be back on line more frequently as he's a moderator.

Happy

Happy to help.

FYI:

* With the ignition turned to the RUN position.
* He jumped terminal #65 and #71 in the attached picture to start the engine.

I also suggested a remote starter switch until the new NSS can be installed.
