I think the hot-rods use Sandens because it's what Vintage Air kits ship with but I'm sure they're good compressors.

I'll bet that the "V" in the V5 is for "variable" because it's a variable displacement compressor.

The only reason I'm considering a change is because my R4 is noisy. It makes a kind of high pitched rumbling sound from time to time. It works fine once the car gets up to speed though. I'm just scared it's gonna ***** the bed and shoot crap through my system Do I need to be worried?

It would be hairy fabricating new brackets for a different compressor. Failure at highway speeds could be BAD with the IP and oil cooler lines right there

Now, if it would fit on the opposite side above the turbo inlet...

Ok.. variable sounds good.
Ever considered replacing your noisy R4 ? ( is that TOO simple, TOO logical ? LOL )
If you get the correct serial number R4 and do it correctly it should last longer than you will...

Yea, I'll just stick with the R4. I actually plan on replacing the compressor and drier and taking the exam so I can get R12 or finding a shop that can recharge with R12.

Is there a difference in the 134 and 12 compressors?

call Tray Carlisle at Carlisle Auto Air in San Antonio to confirm and get the correct one...
You can use either for R12 but need to get the stronger one for sure if using R134a...
