It is a cool 100 F here...
He is the one saying he needs to get it out of blocking his garage... but Wimps out Fabulously when a little heat strikes.... he should have done this in the Winter or Spring if he wanted to be comfortable while doing it....

It's a complex task...

I'd like to have something else at the front of that angle but there's nothing there I was hoping there were holes in the front of the block but the crank sensor is there. There may be holes under the plate but I aint messin' with it

I have to do the crank pulley boogie with the flat steel and clamps AGAIN... Just to double check everything before tacking.

Then I'll do something else...

I've got a little over 1" clearance. It's tighter than I'd like but if it ever hits the frame then I've got bigger problems

Still gotta lotta work to do...

Jon, I don't remember but isn't there a compressor bracket that is bolted to the block. Are you modifying the original bracket to work? To me it would be easier to remove the existing bracket and fabricate something that mounts straight to the block.

I'm driving up in the AM. Gotta get in the bed...

I used this bracket:

It's a York to Sanden adapter. There are 3 bolt holes for the aluminum bracket but they are pretty close together and on 2 different planes. I actually started out trying to get a flat surface for mounting in that location but it was hard to get to with the motor in the car. The R4 pivoted on the hole that runs parallel to the compressor. The 1st bolt I installed used this hole. I even used the same bolt and cut the spacer in half for the bracket lugs

I'm actually going to start whacking on my R4 bracket with the bandsaw to see if it can be made to work. The R4 is just so different from the Sanden! Different shapes, different mounting locations...

I'll post what I find.

Little more progress...

bracket bolt

The long bolt at the bottom is the pivot for the compressor. The d@mned bolt won't slide out with the bracket bolted up. It hits the cross member. I swear, another 1/4 and it would slide right out... I really wanted compressor removal to be easy but the way it is the whole compressor and bracket have to come out as a unit

Sorry for the bad pic, I just shot some stuff while working...

On the bench:

I need welding practice...

Can you use two small bolts, nuts, spacers and washers like on top?

Or B7 all thread with nuts at each end. I'd put some gussets in there in the direction of car travel to "stiffen" it up front to back.
