This is not what the original poster used, he used the 134 replacement, which runs slighty less pressure. Both are quite nice to use.

I did have the pressure hose on my truck blow, old and rotten, should have changed it a lot sooner. It blow quite loud and vapor from it blocked my view for a few seconds as it came out every seam around the hood. No explosion though, even though it spayed right on the exhaust manifold. Now if that did not catch fire then I am not going to worry to much about it.

Sounds like you need to go straight out and buy a lottery ticket.

no, the mityvac would not have the flow needed to dump the solvents out.

ya really need 100psi flowing through the lines... and it's a bad idea to use compressed air, because the water in the air will contaminate the oil and tubing in the system... a dry gas is really needed such as N2, CO2 or any other dry gas!

The so-called "junk" refrigerants worked as well as the others in my W123's. The biggest problem is the car and system, not refrigerant type. Get over 90, sit and traffic or even stop at a light and it just doesn't matter.
Better cure was my '95 with factory R134a and a better system.
Best cure was a far more reliable brand......
Just sayin'......

Ha. Ha. It's funny to hear people speak about mb like their talking about an ex. My friend who I turned on to old MBs to run grease in calls em "junk". It's funny.

But you are right. Modern ac system way better. That and serpentine belt and fuel economy is why I'll never go back to a w123. The newer MBs still seem real friendly to work on compared to other Cars of their respective eras. I've never tried Lexus or Acura though. Maybe when they make some diesels That get cheap.

I don't know. I kinda like being able to listen to the car and pretty much know what's wrong with it - compared to needing an OBD II to read the codes.

I'll probably buy me an 98-99 diesel if I can though. Just to get into the 90's if nothing else.

Also, regarding my earlier post about hydrocarbon refrigerants... I would prefer to use one. The benefits seem to be there. Hopefully, the government will relax the regulations on them.
