I had a return line blow on me yesterday. I'm waiting for braided line to arrive by mail. Meanwhile, I got some garden tool fuel line, didn't say Tygon on the package though. This is the situation after 5 minutes of idling. You can see the bluish fuel and air gaps in the line. Does it stay this way or does the air eventually bleed away?
Does Tygon line have a yellow-orange tint? Sixto 87 300D |

In my case I made a plug by using a fine threaded Maching Screw slighly fatter than the Hose inside diameter with the threads covered with Silicon Sealant. Simply shove it inside of the new dry length of hose and let it cure before installing it. Any tupe of Plug in the Hose that will not leak is OK.

I just replaced my return lines on the 87 300TD with the aforementioned tygon hose and wanted to know the answer to this question too, "does the air work its way out of the return lines?"

Should, that engine is self priming.

Keep fuel line, both fuel filters (2 each), wrenches & cutters in the trunk. You'll be happy when you need them.

I also have an issue with the return line on my last injector (from 4th to 5th) i replaced the line about 4 times now and its still leaking. The braided line is wet all the way not just where the nipples are. is there a trick to this?

I found some generic line from the auto parts store. Slightly smaller. I heated it with the heat gun and pushed it on with pliers.
Probably not recommended, but I tweaked the nipple on the injector out a little bit. Works good, problem is taking it off. +1 on carrying some extra. I've been wondering what that cigar tube return is. I used a normal hose and it's starting to look cigar shaped. Lol. |

It acts as a fuel pressure damper.

As a former farmer, I can get that. Definitely necessary as mine is swelling. I've seen a scratch in the nipple do that before. I would recommend my method, melting a smaller line on. Correct way would be to replace the nozzle body. |

I ran out of OE braided and installed NAPA 1/8" between 2 injectors where the braided line was leaking.
I used some pliers that work for hose clamps and was easily able to seat the NAPA line well. Do we have any current data on how well it holds up? I'll order some of the real stuff to have in case but am just wondering whether I'm apt to have trouble immediately.

Since 1992 there has been changes with the chemical make up of Diesel Fuel so there is no telling how long a hose not made for the purpos will last. On the same Car I also replace one of the fuel return hoses with silicion vacuum hose. That worked for over 2 years. However, when I removed it it was rock hard and needed some carful cutting to get it off.
