Keep up the research. I think in your effort to learn how you can mod these things, you are confusing yourself. Or maybe I am totally wrong. These things are very simple. Start with a basic OM 617 or 603, swap it into your Jeep and then over time you will learn all its strengths and weaknesses and address them along the way. All this fuss before hand is silly. Just install the motor in your Jeep and be done with it. You will not be disappointed. These motors are awesome.

Ya I think thats a little of whats happening lol!
And no worries man, I came to your guys forum asking questions that have already been answered. So I take everything with a grain of salt!

I'm uploading pics now..I found a total of 5 turbo diesels, 4 in 1 yard and 1 in another yard. I'd say they are 90-100% complete. 1 has a non-egr turbo manifold, and it seemed there was 2 or 3 different turbos between the 5 as well. Also some had a huge air cleaner, some didn't...
I do remember seeing air research T3 on 2 of the turbos.
2 of them were at 304k & 310K
2 had cluster removed and I forgot to check the other lol..

Not they will be any help as they are pretty crappy, but maybe you guys may see something thats special, or something to avoid all together!

This appeared to be the cleanest/most together, 310K

And maybe you guys can decode vins and find things out about them?

Is there anything I should be looking at in particular when picking out my motor? I'm going to do a compression test on every one of these but who knows how accurate they will be cause the valves may/may not be adjusted.
I will also be building the motor there lol...picking the best turbo, picking the non egr manifold and everything! Whole motor is 300 with a 90 day warranty.
Which stock turbo was the best/biggest?
