Old thread I know, but why start a new one just to be told to "do a search" lol.

I too have a #18 head and am concerned that it may be a N/A head and unsuitable for a turbo application. Does anybody know about #18 heads? Any help is much appreciated!!!

Is the head installed or loose? I've got a #17 head on my '87 wagon that I installed, and a spare #20 head on the shelf.

Head is installed on an 87 3.0 OM603. Seller says he bought it from Europe, which is one of the reasons why I'm scared. The other reason is because it is not mentioned by the poster who listed all of the turbo head numbers that he knew of earlier in this thread.

Does anybody know if the #18 is a N/A head or a turbo head?

My former '91 350SDL (sold it to a guy importing it to Sweden last month) had the 22 head. Does that mean it was replaced at some time? I had the service records since new, and poured over them looking for anything about bent rods. I found nothing major at all in the first 70,000 ish dealer serviced miles (I got it at 99,000 from the second owner that only kept a journal). Either the 22 head was original, or the entire engine was replaced without any record of it in the stack of paperwork I got with the car. I replaced the head gasket at 120,000 miles because of oil in the coolant (common problem). The gasket appeared to be original equipment, and not aftermarket......Rich
