The turbo is not vac dependent.

What is your inHg reading from the main line?

Check this with one orifice plugged, then the other.

Right now there is no vacuum. Its very coincidental that the turbo stopped working once the car wouldnt shut off.

To Clarify

Access to the electronic parts catalog, EPC, is free.
EPC-net Online

Access to the Star TekInfo pages is not. Excluding the service manuals and other "mb workshop resources" found in the right menu.

You should start a new thread for these questions.

1) No power = could be no vacuum signal to turbo. Lots of possibilities from no source vacuum, no signal from EDS, signal not getting to actuator...

2) Tranny doesn't shift right = describe further. Harsh shifts under light throttle is typically a vacuum problem, mistimed upshifts and downshifts could be a (Bowden) control pressure cable misadjustment, flaring could be a vacuum problem or worn clutches...

3) Symptoms of bad vacuum pump = unlikely if the brakes perform as expected.

4) Rattling sound = could be a number of things but given the possibility of the vacuum pump causing a catastrophic engine failure, replace it if it's an old style or inspect it if it's a new style.

You don't want to be. That's a chapter of the MB engineering playbook that's best left unread Switch to a pressure actuator and enjoy the ride.
