When I changed the Bosch alternator on my BMW, I did it without an impact.
Just did it very carefully, holding the fan as I recall. It was 10 years ago, so I dont remember the exact technique, but it WAS possible.

I save old belts-V and multirib. Then I just wrap an old one around the pulley and lock it in a vise. usually can get it loose that way.

I picked up the 12 volt impact wrench from HF for 25 bucks. Seems like a good deal.
I'll be trying in out soon on that bolt. Thanks for the info! |
