It doesnt sound like a super bad deal to me, 4 123"s for $3k
Sure the guy is over exaggerating the MPG and the raw power of the 240 manual trans and the rarity of it but he said they need work and hes not really asking a premium for them.
Im noticing it becoming popular on this forum that people are tossing stuff into the turd thread just to get a laugh. but maybe thats the whole reason it started anyway

I stopped fully driving it last year when I bought another car. I fixed things on it as they needed it; i.e. Brakes in 2011. Not much went out on the car. It's just really old and everything probably needs to be replaced. Technically, the car has reached "collector's" age since it is over 30 years old, but because it's an original German made car, it will be an expensive project for someone to make it like new. Please give me a call if you are interested.

-sorry 3500 is the asking price-

makes me feel like i got a real deal on mine...lol

Are we listing cars here now that the ad also says they are a turd or just ones that are turds in makeup, because this ad states that basically everything needs replacing and they would advise not going for too long of drives with it, yes they are delusional about the price but, not really a misinforming ad.

Gonna have to disagree with ya there my dear Watson. A 603 leaking coolant, looks like it was painted with a mop and blatantly mis-advertised? At best a 750 dollar parts car. C'mon man, try not to make every detail you list in the ad a complete fabrication. Another would-be conster, I'm TOTALLY shocked. So it seems this covers all the bases here:

1995 Mercedes Benz E300D - $3999

1995 Mercedes Benz E300D

This is a 1995 Mercedes Benz Diesel, the engine is solid as a rock I use only Rotella diesel oil mixed with Lucas oil every 3,000 miles and the transmission shifts great. The car is 18 years so it has a few issues but it is a drive-able car, I drive it every week for long trips because I get 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. The Wire harness is gone so new owner needs to get a new one therefore the temp, gauge and heater plugs do not work right, sometimes I start it a little starting fluid, if you find the wire harness the labor cost is only $150-200. The heating works but the A/C needs servicing but has a brand new compressor. I just replaced the radiator for over $500.00. Brand New Battery.
The back windows do not work and the sun roof too. But this baby will take you from Miami to Canada and back with no trouble, this engine can go over 500,000 miles it has approx. 237,000 miles now and still counting. When this baby heats up it moves like a Humvee. Email me for more information.

Trade for ELMO?!?

I don't quite know what to make of this ad. The car itself doesn't look bad and I appreciate them conveying that it has a blown head gasket which they "fixed" with Bars Leak Head Gasket Fix, but the price is relatively high, and the trade request is simply bizarre.

Trade 1985 Mercedes for Elmo Toy (plus)

You are looking at a Great Looking 1985 Mercedes-Benz 190E, 139k miles, 4dr, 4cyl (2.3L, 8-valve, gasoline; single row timing chain) fuel injection and 25 mpg. Attractive silver over gray leather. The body & paint are in Great condition! It is loaded with: 4-speed automatic trans, a/c, p/s and p/b. It has electric sunroof, seat, mirror, cruise control, windows, am-fm cassette. Runs very good on the freeway and a little rough in the city. Does need some TLC (small head gasket leak; sunroof and rear window need fuse or motor, front seat and rear bench) . Installed Bars Leak Head Gasket Fix for $37.00; uses sodium silicate and works with any anti-freeze. Put in about 6 months ago and the car is running Very good. Clean inside & outside and non-smoking owner.

Looks and handles like a new car; original stock condition; no accidents. Has good tires; IRS rear suspension, 4-way disc brakes; factory alloy 15" rims (spare also). Garaged & detailed. Has a new water pump, fuel filters and full Bosch tune-up. All DMV fees are paid up to date.

Retail prices for 190E's are $4000 to $7775:
1985 Mercedes-Benz 190E 4 Door Sedan Value, Prices & Specs | NADAguides | NADA 1985 Mercedes-Benz 190E Book Value & 1985 Mercedes-Benz 190E Market Price

$3000 or best offer. Trades considered (small pickup, Elmo Toy, etc.). Please send an email with your offer -- and include photos. Thanks.

If the car is listed, then it is still for sale.

[IMPORTANT NOTE from Shortsguy1: this video from the CL ad contains Adult Language and has mature themes. It was in their ad, so I included it here, but it is not very kid friendly, nor is it best to play it at work like I just did by accident.]

Well, it may not be a CL turd....depends on cost. If it's $500, it's a CL deal...as a great parts car. If it's $2K with runs good....turd!!

Agreed. The engine alone would be worth $500 if that was the total cost for the car. Even at $1,000 it would be a bargain if you needed a good engine and trans. Any more, and I would agree- a turd.

I might get it and part it out. We'll see. I want the money to buy another NA 606 I'm looking at that needs a lot of lovin'. So this could contribute to the build and my 99 if it's as good as they say and I get it even cheaper than $500.
