Wasted my time going to look at this yesterday. Owner was persistent on mentioning that it is a one owner, low miles, dealer serviced, all records, excellent condition blah blah blah.

Guess he forgot to mention that...
CC blower inop
Sunroof jammed
OAT display dead
Cruise control inop
Rear right door wouldn't open
Mediocre re spray paint job
Completely dry rotted tires
Headliner badly sagging
Driver side mirror adjustment handle broke off
Tiny lil bottom shelf walmart 600cca battery installed with terrible hacked up wiring
Original style vacuum pump(I knew this but he could not have understood the importance of that)

All that I could have dealt with with a significant reduction in his asking price until... I noticed a quarter sized rusty cornflakes spot right in the crevice of the rear windshield seal. Checked in the trunk under the tire well and in the fender wells. Fairly moist not crazy wet. Ok, let me continue the search for water/water damage. Driver side under carpets wet not soaked. Passenger side under carpets HOLLY SMOKES!! A freaking swamp. Sound deadener material crumbling. Stank dank nasty.

At this point I'm hella discouraged. I offered 1750, he balked, I walked. He wouldn't go lower than 4000. Yeeaahh... Good luck with that.

The good news is if you wait long enough, the rust will create convenient drain-holes for all the water!

Happy Motoring, Mark

What did the owner respond with when you pointed out the major problems with the car?

The ad smells of flipper. "won't last long" and other BS that does more harm than good when it comes selling. Title is open from previous owner. Sells RVs, and probably cars on the side. Dealers in Florida and New Jersey have a well earned terrible reputation. I've had my time and money wasted on several occasions by flippers and dealers from Florida talking up their polished turds.

I know of a pristine 1991 300D a friend of mine is selling here in Kansas. I think he was only wanting $4000 for it.

With every thing I was finding and pointing out his demeanor became quieter and seemingly agitated by me calling out on the imperfections of the car.

I was a little upset too by the fact that we had driven three hours to look at it after I had been told on the phone that it was "excellent".

After I found all that water and damage I wasn't really wanting to get that car regardless of the price. If there's only one criteria that was looking for in the w124 that I was looking for it was NO WATER.

I did believe him about being the one owner. I don't think he was being untruthful about that.

I've heard it's not easy being green!
Actually, green is one of my favorite car colors. But maybe not that shade!

What the hell is picture 14 (the music note thinger) and what on earth does it control in the car? Maybe this guy just listens to scales all day?

It's just a minor accident

That'll probably pull right out. And it's got a clean title!

Ad text:

I invested a lot of money to fix it to perfection!

The engine is 2.5L L5 SOHC 10V TURBO DIESEL.

Unfortunately after one month after finishing all the repairs i had a minor accident shown in the pictures. I invested over $1500 to fix it the first time.

The car starts and it is a great find for parts with clean title.

I am asking only $1800 but i am open to offers.

Must virtually jack itself up.

I got a giggle out of the description of the jack. Never realized it was such a selling point.

Original text:

For sale is my 1993 Mercedes-Benz 300d turbo diesel in excellent mechanical condition, always we'll cared for and serviced by a 30 year Mercedes mechanic.
For those of you who know the w124 chassis, it has the OM602 engine.
For those who don't, this means the inline 5 cylinder turbo diesel not only gets approximately 35mpg, but is also considered to be "one of the most reliable engines ever produced" and has repeatedly been catalogued to surpass 1,000,000 (1 million) miles. At 340,000 this one is just breaking in.
Four brand new Michelin supremacy tires (over $500) new front brakes and a replacement set of brake pads and rotors ! for when they are needed in the rear.

Included is a full size spare and the amazing proprietary M-B jack system. If you've ever changed a flat on the side of the road , this alone is a good enough reason to buy a Mercedes :-)

This car is smooth and drives like a dream, come see for yourself.
100% stock, (even the oil filter and headlamp bulbs are oem brand )
No trades unless you are offering a dual axle dump trailer.
Scammers will be reported.
Thanks for looking.
