No fender vent is a good giveaway too, at least if it hasn't been wrecked and put back together by animals.

Not to mention the price. Were that a diesel, that'd be the steal of the century. Especially for 040, which as we all know, is the very best color :D

1980 Mercedes 300sd

1980 Mercedes 300sd - $2500 (petaluma)

1980 Mercedes-benz 300sd odometer: 190000 VIN: N/A paint color : white size : full-size type : sedan fuel : diesel transmission : automatic title status : clean cylinders : 5 cylinders

Hello!

You can see the full details bellow but here is what you need to know:
- 1980 300sd European import
- Located in Northern California (Sonoma County - about 45 minuets North of San Fran)
- Runs and drives very well
- All original (minus the stereo)
- 190,XXX miles
- See photos bellow for the look of the car
- Asking $2500 (am open to reasonable offers) - NO TRADES

Here is the full story:

I recently purchased a Mercedes 300sd and have been working on it. It is running great! My next step is to replace the glow plugs and the part of the vacuum that runs to the engine shut off.

Regardless of that I have been using this as my daily driver and love it! However, I have been doing the work on it in the parking lot of the place I work and what I can get away with in the parking lot of my apartment. Neither of those places are great for doing the cosmetic work that is needed nor the changing of the fluids that I know will need to be done soon (I've changed the oil recently - less then 1000 miles ago).

There is very little rust on this vehicle, although it is a European import I believe it has been a California car most of its life, which means there is some sun damage (front dash cracked and rear upholstery shrunk and dry). Paint is in pretty good shape. The only other issue is there is no trunk latch attached, currently so I have the trunk secured "permanently." The trunk is the only place that has gotten a little moist before (I think it was because I had a bungie cord holding the lid shut). The rest of the seals are still holding out the water! It has Euro headlight and a few grill badges, which are worth $500+ alone. Everything is original and the only original thing that is missing is the stereo (as well as the first aid kit, tool kit, and those kind of things that are never with these cars anymore).

This car is an as-is but you can certainly drive it home! I drove it 30 miles up the freeway and then back the 30 miles last week with no problems Being an SD it has good power and is a very smooth ride.

With the money I have put into this car I believe it is worth $2500 but am open to reasonable offers. See photos that are attached and let me know if you have any questions or want more photos. The car is located North of San Francisco.

Jake

ps. some poser owned it before me and put the WVO sticker on. This is not a WVO conversion and never has been.

Is the car getting wider or is the trunk lid shrinking?

How does that happen???

Getting wider is usually related to eating too much

There are no European Import 300SDs, or all 300SDs are European imports depending on how you look at it.

Okay, this isn't a CL turd, but an Ebay turd. Hopefully you will allow it. It is an ad for NOS injector nozzles. The key detail is they are supposedly NOS that were made in W. Germany. Look carefully at the photos. Notice how new all the packaging appears. Look carefully at the last one. If you cannot read what it says on the injector container, I will tell you what it says at the end of my post.

A real turd burger

1992 Mercedes 300 Turbo D

Wasted my time going to look at this yesterday. Owner was persistent on mentioning that it is a one owner, low miles, dealer serviced, all records, excellent condition blah blah blah.

Guess he forgot to mention that...
CC blower inop
Sunroof jammed
OAT display dead
Cruise control inop
Rear right door wouldn't open
Mediocre re spray paint job
Completely dry rotted tires
Headliner badly sagging
Driver side mirror adjustment handle broke off
Tiny lil bottom shelf walmart 600cca battery installed with terrible hacked up wiring
Original style vacuum pump(I knew this but he could not have understood the importance of that)

All that I could have dealt with with a significant reduction in his asking price until... I noticed a quarter sized rusty cornflakes spot right in the crevice of the rear windshield seal. Checked in the trunk under the tire well and in the fender wells. Fairly moist not crazy wet. Ok, let me continue the search for water/water damage. Driver side under carpets wet not soaked. Passenger side under carpets HOLLY SMOKES!! A freaking swamp. Sound deadener material crumbling. Stank dank nasty.

At this point I'm hella discouraged. I offered 1750, he balked, I walked. He wouldn't go lower than 4000. Yeeaahh... Good luck with that.

Looks like a decent parts car. It has a rebuilt trans. I'm assuming it overheated from him saying it has a "cracked engine block". The ad is pretty funny.
