I need to make a plan to get the Monarks installed.
Where I used to work We reserved the Ultra Sonic cleaning Tank mainly for used Direct Injection Nozzles because picking out the Holes to clean them could enlarge them and at the same time was time consuming.

Used IDI Injector Nozzles could go the US Cleaning Tank but We normally used Carburator Dip on them to disolve the Carbon.

In fact both types of Injectors were taken apart and went into the Carburator Dip and were then hosed of with Solvent.
Any exterior Carbon was wire wheeld off with a very fine wire whee. (but not the tip where the Holes are).
So Nozzles going into the Ultra Sonic Tank were already pretty well cleaned. Unless there was some unusal problem the Injector Bodies did not go into that Tank.

Unless the passages inside of the upper Injector Body are rusted inside there is no abosolute need to put them in the Ultra Sonic Tank.

What you really need to get out of the passages on the Injector are Lapping Compound or if you use abrasive Paper to lap with. That can be done with Brake or Carburator Cleaner and compressed Air.

With compressed Air it is best to have a Filter and at the very least something to separate the Water out of the Air.

I can remember getting ready to assemble an Injector dipping the Parts in Diesel Fuel and blowing it out or off with Air only to shoot a lot of Moisture into it because someone had not drained the Water Separators.
It just causes you some more cleaning time but it is better to think about it before it happens.

But, I had the littley HF Jewlery type US Cleaning Tank for at least 4 years and I used it more for cleaning other parts then Injectors. Limited of course by the size.
I have had the Larger HF one for at least 2 years and the Larger size helps alot.
One of the last things I used it for is I threw My original Ignition Lock Tumbler inside and gave it a good cleaning.

I think if a Person buys one of those Tanks they will find themselves putting all kinds of parts into it.

For those who plan to re-use the good Stock Bosch Nozzles. Even if you can come up with the right Sized Music Wire to clean out the tiny drilled passages in the Pintle tip that will not get all the Carbon out. But, an Ultra Sonic Cleaning Tank has I believe will.

injector cleaning

I noticed most of the guys posting on this topic seem to be diesel. Can you put gas injectors into the ultrasonic cleaner, and what do you use for solvent?

Gas or diesel origins won't matter to the cleaner. People put lots of different solvents in these cleaners some of which are potentially dangerous.

When I was using these machines for work we used de-ionised water. (For metal parts you need to make sure they are dry afterwards of course)

FYI

I got this one for short term need.
Ultrasonic Cleaner - Save on Ultrasonic Cleaners at HFT

I have added a better quality unit to my watch - wish list.

Wow - well for 30 dollars you've either saved a lot of money or bought the wife a nice foot spar!

FYI

Thanks for the input.

I bought the cheap HARBOR FREIGHT TOOLS Ultrasonic Cleaner

Ultrasonic Cleaner - Save on Ultrasonic Cleaners at HFT

and this 6 Oz. Ultrasonic Cleaning Powder

6 Oz. Ultrasonic Cleaning Powder

The unit works OK since I only clean one injector at a time, to eliminate any possibility of mixing parts.

I change the fluid every cleaning cycle.
Each injector nozzle required at least three cycles.

The injector shells take many more cycles, even with extreme pre cleaning.

That is the first one I bought. in 2008. It lasted until about 2011.

Be gentle with the Lid because the electrical circuit runs through the Hinged area of the lid and that is where mine failed. Sometimes fooling with the Lid gets it to work but mostly not.
Another option would be to but the extended warranty.

I bought the larger version to replace the little one and the extended warranty.
On that one the lid is just a lid.

You also might try using something like Purple Power mixed how you like it instead of the Powdered Cleaner.

More than a couple of things cause the Injector Nozzle to wear out.

The little Pintel is being pushed back down by the Spring that is inside of the Injector and beats on the Metal seat when it stops.

Carbon particles from combustion and particles that make it through that 10 Nominal Micron Secondary Spin-on Filter get between the seating area and when the Pintel is pushed down smashes them into the seating area imbedding some of it into the Metal.

Not unlike fast moving pressurized Water erodes through solid Rock the Diesel Fuel erodes the Steel including the seating area.

Combustion errodes the exposed tip of the Injector Nozzle. If the errosion is bad enough it effects the Injector Spray pattern.

And added to the above stuff Heat and temp change stresses.

It is entirely amazing an Injector Nozzle survives as long as they do.

I will note that many people change out good nozzles that only need cleaning.

If you have a Diesel Nozzle/Pop Tester and are doing the work yourself cleaing the Nozzles is practical and one of the reasons to have a Nozzle/Pop Tester.

Because the Injector Nozzles often do not all wear at the same rate you are paying someone to do the Cleaning and the overall cost effectiveness for long term use could favor new Nozzles.

If you have a bunch of used Injectors If you have a Nozzle/Pop tester and the Ultrasonic Tank you can maybe find enough to make a good set.
