Charlie, from your list it seems that 116, 123, and 126 all share the same knuckle (maybe the reason for the 116 part number?). I do see a discrepancy though.

300TD turbodiesel wagon 1975 - 1985
300TD wagon 1975 - 1981
280E sedan 1975 - 1981

Was a Turbodiesel wagon available before 1981? (that is a rhetorical question), and also was not aware of a wagon back in 1975 (I am just saying that I have NOT seen one, and that does not mean one does not exist). Also, the list has no mention of a 280E sedan later than 1981 (I had a 1985 280E W123).

Did you keep the backing plate on the '90 spindle or use the w123 one?

I found the shape of the ABS-car's backing plate so visually different I switched it over for my original. I was not sure the w123 hub was going to slide on properly.

I read somewhere that the 1975 thing in parts listings is a bit of a red herring, which shows up in some places and not in others. The w123 was technically produced in MY 1975, but in reality very few cars were delivered as '75s.

I noticed that when I copied it down from their site.

I Googled 1163304020 and this came up. keep poking around and then the other numbers came up for additional cars. but every one starts with the 240D in the listing.
STEERING KNUCKLE. STEERING KNUCKLE AND CONTROL ARM; STEERING KNUCKLE AND WHEEL HUB. Mercedes # 1163304020, 1163301420

when using the vented Rotors from a second Gen W126 on a W123, you are still using the w123 Steering Knuckle, just swapping over the larger backing plate and Caliper. It is more or less plug and play. I believe the W123 and W126 Hub is the same. so using the w126 Steering Knuckle on the W123, you would still be using the W123 backing plate if just changing Steering knuckles on the w123.

Did that make since?

That is correct, at least on mine, 84 300D, I had to use the 90 SDL Bearings & seal. I put on a new 84 rotor & my old caliper. The shape of the spindle arms seem to be the same & bolted right up to the 84 suspension.
