Part names & numbers please (pics inside)
Hi folks,
New member from not so sunny Ireland here seeking some advice from yourselves. Recently acquired a 1998 E300TD auto in lieu of some work I've been doing for a guy, but it seems to be a never ending list of problems, all of which I want to sort as it really is a nice big thing to drive. Anyway, I've replaced a couple of pipes already (number 74 and 83 in the pic), but I'm in need of the other 4 plastic pipes and the seal for the shut-off valve, so herein lies my questions: What is the part number for the O-ring for the shut-off valve? Does the "feed pump" which Part 74 runs to have an O-ring between it and the main pump? What is Part 155? Also Part 149? Any help shall be gratefully received. Many thanks Nicky |

Part # 155 a "Heat exchanger, fuel thermostat" #604 070 01 79.
#149 is a "Rubber cap, nozzle holder #6 part #605 070 00 55. That is for a 606.962 engine, can't locate a wagon. What is your full chassis number? As in my SD is a 126.120.

I assume the OP has a 1998 E300 TURBODIESEL, not a TD= Touring Diesel.

Here are the oring counts/sizes if you just want to R&R orings and not the entire fuel line. You don't have to buy them from MB unless you want too. OM606.962 o-ring size
The lift pump/feed pump is sealed to the IP with a gasket. To expound, #149 represents injector #6 and the piece you are asking about is the rearmost plug in the series of return lines terminating at #6.

Russian part site. Mostly in English
If they list more than one part number for the same item on the Parts Diagram go to the right and there will be a note to click on to tell you what Chassis or Engine Numbers the Parts were used in. Click below: Ìîäåëü

I just went through this on my 1998 E300DT.
I am curious about your car and what they offered in Ireland. Do you have a sedan or a wagon? In the States they never offered the W210 wagon with a Diesel engine. We could only get the Diesel in a sedan. The Diesel sedans were offered like this: 1996 and 1997 were NA OM606.960 engine, called E300D. 1998 and 1999 were turbo OM606.962 engine, called E300DT. For the remainder of the W210 cycle they dropped the Diesel entirely in the States and you could only get a W210 gas powered, until the W211 came along with the CDI. Even then no wagon, only sedans, but you could also get an M-class with the CDI engine. But I digress. Here are my hints. - just go ahead and order the complete hose assemblies from M-B. I bought the complete set of 6 for around $100 US. If the hose is brown and brittle chances are it could be admitting air into the system. - Don't forget the crush washers (items 126 and 128) for the IP return line. I did and now I get to pull the IM again to replace them when they come in. Whunter has a thread on the hoses and part numbers: 1998-99 E300 Turbo Diesel Plastic injection pump lines, OM606.962 And here is my post from where I did this job, you may want to consider ordering a new valve cover gasket and the 6 o-rings, while you have it that far apart it is easy to change them.Attn OM606 - inspect under the engine cover And renew the injection line clips, pads, and spacers as well. All told the parts bill was about $250 US and about 4 hours of labor on a Sunday afternoon. Money well spent on preventative maintenance.

Cheers folks.
The car is a 1998 E300 turbo diesel automatic estate. Ordered all the pipes, and collected them today, so I will hopefully get around to fitting them over the next few days, between working on so many other car. |

Is estate the same thing as a (station)wagon?

^ AFAIK, yes.
As before, a chassis number will do wonders concerning parts.

I have all the formed plastic hoses but now the rubber hose that comes out of the spin on filter is hard and cracking, is that regular bulk diesel fuel hose 7.5 id? Or bigger?
