So I did t pull the lift pump. I suspect it's fine. I added 3 gallons of fuel to the rank since one gallon wasn't enough to really cover the bottom and I think it was sucking air so three it is. I spent 20 minutes trying to prime the system.
Spin on is 100% full of fuel. clear filter has no air in it All fuel lines are tightened down Injector soft lines are new Fuel supply rubber hose in engine compartment is new While trying to prime I put a light on the clear line coming off of the lift pump and I can see fuel moving up but it gets to maybe 3/4 and won't go further or any variation of that but not more than 3/4 of the way up the line. What gives? Do I need to put more fuel in the tank so there is adequate pressure behind the lift pump? Could I have a leak somewhere? That is all Last edited by TheDon; 06-30-2014 at 09:00 AM. |

I tried that and couldn't prime the system off of the tank of fuel I had in the engine compartment

If I had to guess, your land is more near Maricopa, Sun City, or Apache Junction than Phoenix and have the diurnal temperature swing that I meant by avoiding urban heat island. Also, that large of a plot aren't existent in the city. Quote:
Are you getting fuel from the hard lines? Hope this helps... ![]()

No fuel to the hard lines because I cannot get fuel to even prime the injection pump.

You could maybe try putting a little compressed air on the return hard line. This will force fuel from the tank to the inlet of the lift pump if you still can't get it to prime then I would think there's something up with the lift pump.
Having a Helper on standby to open the fuel tank cap to relive pressure is good.

I need to clean the tank vent valve just so. Everything related to the system has been gone over. I'm sure it's something stupid causing it to not prime.

I was taught to eliminate to a point so as to find the solution. So is there a way to tell if fuel is getting and through the pump?

Oh and did you remove the lift pump and see if you could push the piston in by hand? I had two lift pumps seize from sitting and the piston couldn't be pushed in...
