SERIOUS sticker goo removal

I scraped the swoosh stickers off the sides of my Toyota, and the glue WILL NOT COME OFF. Best thing I've found so far is green scrubby pads and gasoline, but it's taking a LOT of work and I'm lazy.

Pressure washer didn't touch it. Goo gone softened it slightly, same with goof off.

What have you guys found to work?

Since you're clearly not worried about the paint...

This stuff cuts through everything I've used it on.

Be triple sure you are using it in WELL-VENTILATED area.

That may be the same stuff from the old days which was called asphalt and something remover.... probably carbon tet... so I do not know if still available... but worked well and did not harm paint...
Really though .... goo gone or those things repeatedly applied and rubbed... might be safer than a ' bigger hammer '..

Purell Gell hand sanitizer works better than anything else that I've come across.

The 3M Adhesive Remover should work- I've used it to remove adhesive for the underhood insulation. Wear chemical /solvent resistant gloves, such as nitrile, though. Have you tried mineral spirits? Probably less expensive than the 3M.

Another product that often works well is a limonene (dipentene) based cleaner. Those are said to be biodegradable; made from citrus peels.

Many years ago I worked in an Auto Body Shop and we used a 3M product in an aerosol can. "Adhesive Remover" if I remember correctly. We used it to removed adhesive behind stick on woodgrain, or large stickers on Pepsi trucks, etc. Spray it on, wipe with a plastic bondo applicator. Came right off.
Sorry I don't remember the exact name of the product. But any auto paint supply company should have it - if epa regs hasn't stopped its production!

Thank you, folks.

I've tried mineral spirits and paint remover both. It'll soften the gunk for a little bit and that's it.

I'll get some of the 3M stuff, sounds like it'll work!

WD40 has worked well for me.

also PB blaster is good.

a razerblade in your HAND is also a great way to remove decals, and stickers.

The 3 M stuff works, smells like denatured alcohol. Also, when removing the glue, don't try to dissolve it, rub with a rag in one direction only so the glue balls up. Don't try for completely clean on the first shot as it will take a few swipes to take everything off.

Also , keep the surface wet with solvent and change rags when they have lost their grip / have too much glue on them.

Remember the purpose of the solvent is to dissolve the adhesive or at least break the bond with the substrate. You have to get all the dissolved/loosened adhesive off the substrate before the solvent evaporates or it will just remain on the surface.

So work a small area at a time, keep it wet with solvent, and be sure you get all traces off the substrate before the solvent tries.

Stickers usually have liquid proof tops...
so put some duct tape or something around the outside of the sticker to protect the paint...and use a coarse sandpaper like 40 grit to gently make openings in that top surface.. then use the solvents... they can get to the glue that way.... and like mentioned.. keep wet.

what most bodyshops do to remove decals, and stickers on cars is a simple heat gun or torpedo heater aimed at the vehicle (or warm the car up in a paint booth) then they take a razor blade and slice the edge from the paint, and lift the sticker off...

solvents are a pain to use on painted surfaces without damage, and auto stickers are designed to remain...
