Thanx ~ I didn't want to do that.....
I imagine removing the oil filter canister would do the same thing....

Rollguy is correct. You can replace just the rubber hose. I used #10 AC hose (5/8" ID) as I recall, but check my post. I removed the oil cooler tubes to do so, but only because I had to remove much from that side of the engine bay to repair a separated K-frame mount. I used AC crimps, but I have the expensive crimping tool. Similarly replaced the hose in my AC lines. Otherwise, I would do it in place, and my crimper probably wouldn't fit. Instead, for a professional look you can use Oeticker stepless clamps (ebay) w/ any cheapie nail puller to crimp them. Quality screw hose clamps also work. Best are Breeze type w/ a smooth surface. Next best are AC retrofit type (have a locating finger). They used that on my 65 Newport's after-market AC, which was common in those days. They never leaked and AC runs >200 psig, much more that your oil cooler.

I'm looking at doing this because one of my hoses is slightly abraided (car must have had a bad mount at some point and it looks like one of the belts scraped it). I heard that the size of the nipples is slightly smaller than 5/8" and 5/8" hose will fit sloppily.
5/8 is close to 16 mm (15.8 mm). I'd bet that 15 mm is the correct size. Here's some metric 15mm ID oil-rated hose sold for Porsches. Bit expensive, but you only need two meters or so of the stuff... https://www.************.com/p-1724-oil-pressure-rated-nbr-15-mm-id-hose.aspx |

IIRC there is a engine retainer bracket under the oil pan in the center of the cross member. Seem to remember doing one years ago. It appears to be there to stop the engine being ejected in a roll over.(?) Yeah, I know it's been mentioned......
You said the top bolts.....does that include the two socket head bolts in each mount. All told there are four bolts to each mount. Anything in the transmission tunnel interfering ? .

Actually only three. Two holding the mount to the body/frame, and one going through the mount into the arm (accessed from a hole in the frame below). Unless you are talking about the arm to engine, then yes, there are four nuts holding the arm to the block.

Just did this on mine; HAD to remove the hard lines to get them welded properly (and tested before installing them). Turned out well, but was quite the hassle.
I can't imagine what it's hanging up on. I loosened the throttle at the rubber block on the firewall, loosened the mounts, disconnected the PS return line for easier access, and I think that was it... I would have gone crazy if another list member hadn't helped me when I was losing perspective... Oh, be careful of the fan shroud once it comes loose.

? you don't think 6 meters would do the job ? .
@ $40 / 6 meters I'd say this is far cheaper than buying the ready made hoses . -Nate Quote:

So to return to the original post - did you get the engine to move up? I didn't have an issue with either the 616 or the 617 that I pulled but that does NOT make me an expert!

I said you'd likely want to order two meters, which is $40. The stuff is $20 per meter, not $20 for three meters.

Yes Dan , Saturday I went back at it and used a 6MM Allen wrench to loosen the two 8X1.25 Allen screws holding the motor mount to the unibody , then I tried the jack agin and Lo ! . I suddenly had sufficient clearance to get both motor mount and support arm off , then I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning , what a big mess . I might get back to it this afternoon, we'll see . Being crippled really puts a crimp in my ability to do these repairs anymore but I'm keen to get it done . STILL NO BRAKE CALIPER dammit ![]() The nice, friendly people at Peach Parts don't even know what a " Critical Core " is for chrissakes . Sigh . End of rant , I'll get to it and report back then I have a few dozen other things to repair and report on... I save as much of the helpful advice I get here as I can as sometimes (no heater since last Summer) it takes me a while to get to a job .

And this is the right view .
I'm a Journeyman Mechanic and my career has had me working on all manner of different Vehicles and machinery , I'm still always learning as I go though . I have done this very same job several times now and never had this much difficulty .
