W211 E320 CDI pre-purchase inspection and Icarsoft scanner

I will be inspecting an E320 CDI, and have the Icarsoft MB II scanner. Is anyone familiar with this scanner for the W211? Is there some information that I can retrieve with the scanner that would be helpful? Can I find out the life expectancy of the SBC? The instruction booklet seems a little complicated for me to understand. I doubt I will see any codes (no CEL), but I want to be sure the car is healthy before I buy it. I already have many detailed photos, and they look good. I will be bringing both dipsticks (engine oil and trans), as well as the scanner and some basic tools. Any opinions of what else I should bring? This will be my second CDI if I do end up purchasing it. Thanks, Rich

I Carsoft MB II

Is the preferred "Non Mercedes System" diagnostic tool.

The SBC "Counts" the number of brake cycles.

Somewhere, I've seen reference to a "Reset Tool" (Asian)
(Then again this may be a Grail Quest)

If I can find it again I'll holler @ You.

Personally I would not lose too much sleep over whether the SBC module has been changed or not. If there is no evidence it has been changed try to work it into the negations regarding price.

Have the icarsoft scan the car in "automatic" mode through all the modules then read the DTCs in each on. That'll tell you every problem in the car not just the engine i don't think the MBii can tell you number of cycles left on the SBC but it can deactivate it for service. That's the main diff between the i980 and mb ii

Is there a step by step tutorial on scanning it in automatic mode? I am not too good with these type of things, and the instruction booklet might as well been in Chinese, I could not make much sense of it. I was able to check and clear DTC's, but that is as far as I got.......Rich

CDI #2

I ended up getting a one way flight to Albuquerque, and buying the car. This will be my second E320CDI. I sold my last (and first) one to my niece. She needed a car, as the trans went out in her 300CD. She really liked the CD, but is liking the newer car more and more each day......Rich
