Put it up on BAT with no reserve. Has a good story, body looks in good shape. Search for recent wagon sales - you'd be shocked at what they can fetch.

BAT is beyond picky. The only want zero reserve on hopeful project cars, or a very small reserve on great cars. They have a clause where they can buy the car if you don't get your reserve, for the amount of the reserve at their sole discretion.

I suggested "no reserve." I haven't seen detailed pics of underside, or the car itself - but it may present as a a hopeful project car to someone. Obviously BAT would never take a w123 that is not drivable with any kinda of reserve (it's not a 911 after all).

The owner may not want to sink a few more thousand dollars into it, but somebody else might if they can scoop it for under 1000.

Well

I brought it back from the dead last time.

Perseverance, a fair dose of swearing. Some reckless cutting and welding, and a short piece of used lawnmower blade.

It was back on the road for months.

Alas, the super cold got me!

I came home from a week away. A week of the coldest temps in 30 years.

I knew getting to to fire would be hard. It was single digits the morning I tried.

It would crank, but not fire. Parking lot company brought a jump box. It would crank, but not fire. Even with ether.

They got a bigger truck, with jumper cables.. crank, but not fire.

Half an hour or so in... there was a big snap. Fearing the worst.. but hoping it was just a tooth on the flywheel. I had it towed home.

It sat in the heated garage for a day. All kinds of clanging and banging, horrible sounds. Wont fire. She's done.

I have a gentleman from here that got to me last time and asked for the grease system. I'm going to pull that for him, assuming his offer is worth my time, and the propane for the barn heat.

I'd love for someone else to have it. Even if it's just above scrap value.

Anyone still interested? Located in Minot Maine. I've got a big yard, and equipment to push it up on a trailer.

Sad day.. but I'm finally giving up.

JP

I hope another member can get it and use it as an "organ donor" for another car, or get it back on the road.
