fair price for a healthy well om602 drivetrain?

I've got an extra om602 engine and trans with records of maintenance from the car. was wondering what you guys thought was a fair price?

I feel like the question was vague. The mileage is 300k something, but doesn't leak and is clean. Ridiculous maintenance. No delay between reverse too. I was wondering if asking 1k was too much for complete engine and trans.

$1K not unreasonable, but not screaming deal either

milage is high, but no leaks

your target market is pretty small

i'm quasi-interested, having a hard-shifting leaker, but now is not a great time

The transmission at 300k is no spring chicken either, but for 1K, fair asking price.

Those engines are getting pretty rare, but you may have a long wait for a buyer.

That is IF you can find one (I have never seen one in a yard), and $500 would be just for the engine (plus core). The 602 is a rare beast, even around here in So. Cal.

I have an OM602 that I was going to put in my '90 300CE to make it a CD. I am not motivated anymore, so this project is for sale. I imagine I could get 1,200-1,500 for the entire project (car and engine), so $1,000 for an engine and trans with that many miles may be a little high. However, it may not be for the area that you are in. If you are in the rust belt, drivetrains are easier to come by. In dry states (CA, AZ etc) drivetrains are sought after more than bodies (I could sell an OM617 every day if I had a stash of them). Case in point: While I was typing, I answered my phone, and the guy was looking for a complete OM617. Even with the rarity of the OM602, I doubt I could sell one like yours (eng & trans) for $1,000 around here.

OM602 & 603's are out there and yes, they go fast .

Our local LKQ place is good, especially if you find what you need on the 40 % off day .

We did and bought the entire drive line, tranny and all accessories included .

You might mention if its a turbo or non-turbo. Automatic or manual. If auto, 5 plate or 4 plate clutch. If manual 5 speed or 4.

I think the value is close to zero unless you have someone local who is interested and who believes that a high mileage drivetrain is worth a risk, even with good maintenance. Crating and shipping would be quite expensive. If for example Rollguy was on the east coast, I'd take on his project car, but it would double the price of the car to ship it east.
