Turbo actuator (positioner) replacement E320 CDI

I have a bad turbo actuator (positioner) on my '05 E320 CDI. Like a knumbskull, I ordered one from Amazon, but it turned out to be the wrong one. There appears to be at least two different models. I bought the G-001 which is for the V6 (OM642) in MB, Jeep, Sprinter, and others. I assumed the actuator for the CDI would be the same, but after I painstakingly installed it, the actuator arm did not line up. I found out I need the G-109. It only fits the OM648. I ordered one up today. It was quite a challenge to remove the actuator without removing the complete turbo. The two outboard bolts were not that difficult. After removing the clip on the arm, I used a 1/4" drive 10mm socket and extension. You can barely see both ends of the ratchet in the photo. The bolt closest to the engine was not real easy. I had to use a small box end wrench to loosen the bolt enough to twist the actuator and bolt enough to get the socket on the remaining bolt head. The turbo drain is right in the way to get a straight-on bite on the bolt. I was able to get the bolt off while holding the actuator at an angle. Once I got the actuator out, I compared the new with the old, and they were different. The main difference is the length of the arm. The rotation is also opposite, with the arm being in the turbo open position for the G-109, and closed for the G-001. I will save the G-001 just in case I need it for one of the two Bluetec's that I service.

Be aware that all the actuators that are available from the usual places, are most likely made in China. The G-001 I received had the Hella brand marked in the plastic, but I suspect it was made in China anyway. The plastic cover is easily removable. I found Hella printed on the circuit board of the bad actuator, and no brand on the replacement.
