Well we are down to about 41 days till the GTG, this should be interesting. Modern VW TDI diesels & classic MB diesels.

Ooops sorry, and one fine Dodge Magnum gasser that's about 50% MB.

Hmmmm...

Total Est. Time: 33 hours, 48 minutes
Total Est. Distance: 2213.44 miles

This trip would run me about 5k miles closer to 300k.
Seriously considering it, though I do need another person in the car to keep me sane and to drive when I cannot.
Looks like if I divide it up into a 2 day trip, thats 17 hours a day or so. 5 day trip?
I might head up into Chicago, because, well, I love that city...
weather permitting of course..
I'll ask emily (friend) and see if she feels up to it. I've got friends/family scattered all over the midwest so I could say howdy heh.

Any opinions?

At the very least, new tires would be appropriate for this trip. I was looking for some SDL wheels but I cannot find them

Thinking about making it out there, would be good to talk to someone old school again!

How about a 50 / 50 ---- 50 for the person who comes the farthest, and 50 for the person with the oldest?????

It is a good drive for me, but think the 69 will do just fine!

Will have to see how the duty rotation falls and what not!

Hattie if you can make it that far, you might as well come on down to Austin, Texas. We'll throw a HATTIE"S TEXAS GTG.

37 days and a wake-up till the big day. Remember for those wanting to, we will have soup(s) & chilli for supper Friday evening for any who want to meet and greet or even get early start on a project, also we will have biscuits & gravey Sturday morning from about 7:30 till it runs out or Linda puts it away and starts getting ready for lunch.

Remember to keep advised about what's going on or with any known repairs being done to check with TDI Club, if you need to do some type of upkeep such as oil & filter change or say a starter replacement let me know and I will post it there.

Unless things change there will be no parking in the yard as it has done nothing but rain or snow since mid December, and some will have to park on the street. I have been thinking about trying to get a group picture of as many as I can at some parking area locally if the yard is not used. Will work on that.

My school has a 11 week semester, so my final dates are a bit off from other schools.

Talking

Update you guys, any of the motels listed above are clean and safe to stay at on a trip. As far as cheapest they are pretty much the same, and the best coffee in town from what I hear is Perkins Breakfast House that's a part of the Bluff Inn. I'm not sure if the new Holiday Inn will be open by then, but you can call the 800 reservation number and check. The Pasta House Co. in the Holiday Inn is open, so the motel can't be too far behind.

We will have coffee here at the house available for visitors durring the day. Be advised it's the instint drip kind and I can't vouch for it's quality as Linda and I neither one drink coffee.

Looks like we are about 31 days from the GTG!!!

Must call and reserve the porta pottie for the guys today, man does that cut down on house traffic and oil stains in carpet.

For those comming that have a W123 car and desire a CD of MB shop manual, I can make copy's of mine. If I have a head count of those that are coming and want the 2 CD's (covers all W123 cars, gas & diesel) I can have them ready when you get here. How does $1 sound to you who want the CD's?
