Again, to everyone who came, I had a great time. It was nice chatting with members, and meeting new ones. Organization was pretty good this time around, I think we only lost 2 cars, but both found us at the Cheese Factory. Pick and Pull was also fun (only 30 minutes) and just the usual meet and greet.

Lets not jump ahead of ourselves, but how does something in the Peninsula area sound for next time around? Say mid-Julyish?

Also I have more photos, and some of each car who made it to the cheese factory. If anyone wants any of those posted or whatever, let me know. I'm just a bit tired now, and I'll probably forget tomorrow.

The truth and we all know it

The meet was great and all, but honestly, at the end of the day, I had a hard time justifying driving all that way. Yea the meet was great, but the best part for me was cruising down 80 at 80mph, with the seat pushed back, cruise control, and a good smooth playlist, with the engine of my 300d roaring through the night. Alone. Me and my car.

And then theres garret. Who knows if it was intentional, an accident, or just plain the cap coming off on its own. But I feel for garret, there is nothing worse that can happen at a meet, aside from a wreck. Tomorrow morning he is going to see if it is bushed or not. Garret, if the engine is still good then ill give you a brand new hood pad I have in my garage for free. Hope that makes you feel better...

Only about 20 cars actually showed up, instead of the anticipated 37. It just seemed.....without enthusiasm. And who told nick to go so slow?

Atleast me, greasil, and nick kicked ass on a few of the windy roads. Also luvlaw was on it occasionally. At one point I had to show off the fact that my car has a turbocharger and pass greasil illegaly on an uphill. Probably the funnest event of the day.
And I wanted to drag race some diesels bad. Oh well.

Thats basicaly the breakdown. This was my first meet, so maybe there all like that. But regardless, I am happy that I went. I now have faces instead of just screen names.

Not to mention the weather was crap

EDIT*

Bullcrap. The meet was WELL worth my time. The more I remember the more I like it. Cant wait for the next one. I guess im just happy because my day went smooth

Yep you were a little leadfooted on the way back down 101. I caught up to you and Charmalu but i got boxed in and you were about 400 yards ahead and I was already pulling 80mph in traffic. My fuel starts cutting out at 2500rpm's anyhow.

Nick did a great job at keeping everyone together since the area is new to most of us. That's pretty much the reason why we lost relatively few people. The next time we can perhaps have a predefined route to open the taps on since it would be a shame to have to winch one of our cars out of a cow pasture.

If you want to drag race you should have told me! I think the B59l against the OM617 turbo would be pretty even.

Not many good places for that. We werent on any long deserted straight double wide streets.

Oh you know what also sucks? I hate the bay area! Im cruisng, then I see a toll booth! Wow, great I have zero cash. So i pull up and im like you dont do credit right? And shes like just mail it in ok bye and she gives me a card. I take it home and read it. apparently it is a viloation of the laws or some bull**** to approach a toll booth without 4 dollars cash in your wallet. So they want 25 dollars plus the normal fee or they will unregister my 300 or some crap. Maybe ill get lucky and never recieve a violation notice. Screw california. And I hope the fast trak people get punched in the face

Just mail in the $4, its not an issue. I've done it, and so have many others I know. No biggie, just send the $4 ASAP with a date, approx time, and your plate number. Sometimes they don't follow up, but if you don't you could get a decent fine.

Yep, I had to remember to keep a few bucks in the car at all times if you live around the bay and or plan to drive some of the bridges.

Where did you drive in from?

Better than the 133? in Orange County I had to CHARGE $9.00! to drive on the dang freeway for 6 miles!

I wouldn't sweat it, like Zack said just send in the $4 with your plate and it'll be fine, and be sure to send it Monday.

the problem is i don't know where to send it. The thing she gave me just basically says "wait until you get a notice in the mail so you can get screwed for not having 4 dollar bills"

If i can just send it to an address with my plate number i will be happy. If it doesn't work, who cares it was 4 bucks wasted

Um well....doesn't look so good. Which bridge was it?

http://bata.mtc.ca.gov/faq.htm

#16 says that they no longer have the post bridge passing courtesy payment option....I wonder why they omitted that....probably because people did it a lot never paid and the state can't collect to maintain the bridges....

You can call and try to argue that you're from out of state etc.

Another great meet!

Another great NorCal meet, for the most part. Sorry I had to split early (the historical society's lunch was not as much fun) and sorry to hear about the damage to Garret's ride. Hope it is fixable. Great pictures, I'll make sure that Smothers sees them.

The Peninsula this summer sounds like a good idea, then maybe back to Sacto this fall?

Jeremy
