sprung pucks are also avalible for that type of clutch, i just wish i'd got them in mine! once you get use to the bite, pull offs are quite good, bit of wheel spin, and away you go.

"some mods improve your car and make it into something it never was, other mods, however, although essentially the same, are not, and make that car a ricer"

if your car isnt shiny, you dont know what you are talking about, remember; paint shine = knowledge. In order to be taken seriously, you should spend all your money on paint, (and get a dyno reading).
Dont forget to polish it often

I love getting parcels delivered at work (mostly so my wife doesn't see them of course....)

I think a trip down the road to my local clutch specialist to discuss some options for making this a little bit friendlier are in order. Like this hopefully:

Update: I found a really clean R154 Toyota transmission. I'll be starting the modification adventures soon. I'm not sure how exactly i'm going to mate it up... We'll see.

The PCM/ECU might communicate with the TCU or transmissio computer in event one were to fail or go into limp mode.

As you know Mag I'm considering a 3000 lbs W203 sedan or coupe but am seeing really good prices on automatic transmissioned ones and could easily absorb the $1500 in a manual trans swap as I'd be doing a new clutch considering some may learn to drive their first manual in the entry level MB.

The early 2000 W203 uses either 716.633 or 716.638 manual transmissions which matches up ith the M111 mentioned above.

Thanks for your input.

Does the W203 not run a CAN/BUS system? If so there would be a bunch of work involved to allow the ecu to function fully without the transmission communication. It would be best if you had the schematics for the car (FSM) so you would be able to tell exactly where signals from the transmission controller originate and where they lead to.
It might even end up being more worth your while to start with a manual car, whichever it may be and go from there. I'm not well versed on the CAN/BUS setup.
The older cars with CIS have it easy. There is one connector to the transmission with 5 wires, the two smallest are connected to the manual backup switch while the park/neutural switch is wired to a button on the clutch or just separate via a relay. This allows the relay to be open while driving, removing the revlimiter and all that jazz, and closed while starting, allowing cranking of the engine.

Yeah, one guy on mbworld dropped a C32 engine in his C320. Over $1,000 and a be VIN later it's running. The manual transmission in the W203 is very robust lasting hundreds of thousands miles. I'll take your suggestion and keep looking for a manual.

Does anyone have a clue how big bore is the clutch master cylinder on 6-speed models? I bet it's bigger than in older models.

edit: d=19,08mm which is same as in older ones. The cylinder itself is different but same bore.

Nevermind, 211 is the M113. Isn't that a 4.3 though? And were you talking about a manual or a 722.6 auto? I figured it was a manual considering it's a manual thread...

Bob, that W211 is a V6 E240, dunno what the engine size is exactly in Liters since merc has quit its trusted name calling the car depending on size. but i guess its the manual of the M111 that fits and even if it bolts finding a flywheel and matching input shaft length and then i need to custom fit the cables and all that.

too much down time for the car i guess. Who knows maybe this coming year ill get on it if i end up keeping the AMG (otherwise ill be buying some newer AMG).
