A friend of my Dad's had a Citroen and he said it wasn't half bad if you didn't mind removing half of the engine to get at the oil filter.

Ugliest car? Its hard to pick just one. In addition to any Hummer model, the current and previous gen M class, & Pontiiac Aztek, id have to add on a few more.

1. Most GM cars, esp. the late 90's- current Chevrolet Monte Carlo
2. 1996-current Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable
3. Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe
4. Scion XA
5. Honda Insight
6. Toyota Echo
the list could go on and on...

As for the most beautiful cars....

1. Mercedes-Benz W108, W123, W116, W202
2. BMW 3.0 CSI, 2002, Bavaria, & early 7-series models
3. Citroen DS/ID
4. Peugeot 504 (1970's models)/505 (1980's models)
5. Bentley T2 saloon (1970's)
6. Volvo 164E (1973-74)
7. Volvo 850 T-5 R
8. Volvo S60 R
9. Volvo S40 T-5 (current model)
10. Saab 9-5 Aero
11. Alfa Romeo 164LS & Milano
12. Alfa Romeo Giulia 4 door sedan
13. Maserati Quattroporte (1980's & 90's models, NOT the current one)
14. Porsche 911 (1970's)
This list could go on and on as well. However, given the ability, Id own one of each of the cars listed thus far.

You know, I sorta agree with you on the Magnum, it's got that muscular look. I didn't agree with everything in the Car Talk link but I thought the jokes were funny.

I actually kinda like the Scion. It's so bizarre, it's cute -- clean lines, maximum use of it's footprint -- if I was a young surfer dude, I'd be working over-time at Pizza Hut to get one.

Not so with the Honda Element. Looks like one of those Nike shoe designs that should have stayed on the drawing table. "What element is it -- Butt-uglium?"

I used to work with a guy who had an Alpha Romeo Milano, on the list of ugly cars. I used to work with a girl named Milano. A bunch of us were talking about this very topic, ugly cars, and somebody mentioned they thought the Alpha Romeo Milano was an ugly car. I then said "All Milano's are ugly"

Gawd, those Hondas are hideous! I submit that most of the latest Toyota/Lexus product line are similarly abominable. What's attractive about smearing the headlights all over the front fender (a la Solara)?

I wont post a picturecuz i dont want anyone to turn to stone.
1> Honda element: Someone forgot to paint the quarters and left em in primer.
2> Pontiac Aztek

Honorable mention for other reasons:
The new GTO. Not actually ugly but does the name no justice what so ever. It looks like any other Pontiac. Ford got the retro look right with the T-bird and Mustang. Along comes GM to put the GTO name on a car that has nothing to differentiate it from the other cars on the road. I will add that it has a nice interior and engine though.

Actually, I like the GTO for the very reason you don't. I can't think of a better sleeper car than one that the cops will never notice while you're having lots of fun with that corvette engine.

As for the Prius, when you drive nearly 40k miles a year, that car starts to look REALLY nice when it's only costing you $80 to $90 a month in fuel.

If somebody has to drive a specific type or style of car to make up for a lack of something somewhere else, then that is there problem.

I don't need to make up for a lack of something somewhere else, and the bottom line is, that I needed a vehicle that was going to be inexpensive to operate, reliable, and up to the task that I request of it. While my car will not win any style awards, not spending $250 to $300 per month on fuel, and being able to drive stretches without the engine on at all, is well worth driving a "uniquely" styled vehicle.

I tried to do this with an old Benz. Several attempts proved to me that keeping a 2 decade old car for the task of very high mileage driving, was not going to work out in any way shape or form. Too much time under the hood was required to keep it together, and not enough free time was available to spend under that hood to keep it together.

My 94 Buick Roadmaster is a great sleeper. It has the older LT1 corvette engine. It looks like grandpa's sedan with its half vinyl top. Second thought it looks like grandpa's sedan even without the vinyl top. There is nothing I love more than some ricer pulling up to the right side of me at a red light when there is a parked car ahead. Last summer this happened, there was a camero behind me, a Lincoln behind him and a Milwaukee city bus behind him.. Those three stayed bumper to bumper with me and the Ricer Honda with the wing and fart can had to stop 3 feet from the parked car, back up and pull in behind the smokey bus. I will never forget that day.
