neighbor's flood light causing problems

The over protective wierd neighbors recently put on a garage door light, the two bulbs pointing in opposite direction infront of the garage doors, with a sensor. the problem is the bulbs are probably a 1000 watt each and they have them pointed away from their own drive way directly towards our drive way where we park. at night when I park the car, the sensor ( they have that pointed towards our drive way as well.. yes i know they're wierd), turns on that flood light and literaally blinds the person who is driving trying to park the car.
I dont want to be impolite, but it's becoming a concern. Given that it's their property where they have the lights mounted, what can be done in this instance ?

Well, you could install an even brighter one and have it set up to come on when his does. Aim it directly into one of his windows. When they come over to ask you to turn it off, you can then tell them that you'd be more than happy to when they do the same to theirs. My folks did this to their neighbour behind them. They figured it out on the first night.

Consult MedMech in regard to the proper firearm required to eliminate said lights without damaging immediate surroundings.

Pellet rifles do the trick, Mercury vapors need a .22 though.

I agree.....but don't tell the neighbor ou will shoot it out if the SOB doesn't reposition it....never tip your hand....

If the flood light shines in a bedroom window at 3am then you have an issue you could go after them on with the authorities also....

legal cause of action would probably interfearance with the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of your property. the allegations may have to be that they bother you in your home and your car. i am not sure the car thing alone would work. however, you may be able to get a restraining order against the owner with the light if you showed that it was a danger to the navigation of your driveway.

any of the legal options will be expensive. go talk to him--that will give bhd less of an excuse to bash lawyers.

btw, the choices that involve the most legal expense were provided by bonehead.

finally, i can't believe all of these yahoos with the guns and all. if you are going to shoot out someone's fing spotlight, everyone knows you do it with a slingshot and a .50 cal lead ball, not an fing gun!!!!!!!

A pellet rifle is not a firearm........

An Idling Cummins powered Dodge at 2 am is legally expensive in what way?

Mercury vapors have very hard glass that a .22 mag will bounce off of @ 100yds and are often found on farms. Sodium Vapors are found on farms usually located beneath staircases

Their reasoning may not stand the challenges in court, but it sure can make your life much worse than just living with their flood-lights.
I'd mount 20 1,000 watt floodlights facing their windows before I'd cower and put up with it.

An old neighbor call the cops on a party we had once..at 10 pm on a friday...biggest mistake he ever made.........he never had another party again before he sold the place the cops weren't called to quet down.........and they used to have far more parties than we ever had.....

that and we went and turned out seakers against the common wall and maxed out the volume at random hours and random nights just to stress our point. But always turned it off before the cops had tiem to respond.....so we were never caught..

The guy was 6'7" and 300 lbs....worked construction.....I was 5'10" and 180 and worked electronincs at the time....he got drunk and threatened me....I told him if he had the balls he would come into my house away from prying eyes and witnesses so we could fight it out like he wanted.....and told him he better take me down quick becasue I was going to blow his f***ing head off if he didn't.....

He knew I meant it and had his house on the market 7 days later...

just ask him

And if that doesn't work, you can strategically place mirrors in your yard to shine in your neighbors bedroom window, so that whenever the lights turn on, he gets lit up!
