Hotel Rwanda

Did any of you folks see it? It won a ton of awards, yet seemed like it was in the theater for about 2 days.

All I can say is *wow*!

The circle of people who give out those awards only select the most liberal of films....

Witness what happened with "The Passion of the Christ" the most outstanding movie of the year....that hardly even got a mention.

Since Mel Gibson was not a suck up they ignored it....and Mel laughed at them all the way to the bank with the hundreds of millions it made.

I will watch Hotel Rwanda when it is on HBO....I think it was recently? or maybe it was another on the genocide,

Passion of Christ ended up like it did because it showed the group of people that control the movies and awards as the ones that killed Christ. (Read: it made it VERY clear to the people that didn't already know by reading the Bible that the Jews killed Christ.)

Anyway, 1,000,000 people killed - and we did nothing. Hehe, too bad they don't have oil or pose a threat to Israel. Then they would have been helped. Funny, you would think that after all those Jews were killed in WW2 *they* would have taken their "well trained army" to go and help prevent what was happening, since THEY knew what it was like.

Ick, the can of worms spilled all over the floor.

P.S. Don't know if on HBO, I rented it. One of the few movies I've rented that were worth every penny.

I know I saw A movie on it a week or so ago, but may have been another one.

Well where were all the upstanding Africans who want security council seats adn 2 veto votes back then....it was in their back yard. And their responsibility more than ours.

I saw it at the $2 theatre. I really like the larger than life presentation but I avoid the larger than life prices at the regular theatre.

Problems in Africa run deep and strong and I don't think anyone has any realistic solutions. We have a taste of the same in our inner cities here in the US. When is the last time you saw front page headlines about poverty, homelessness, addiction, AIDS, gang warfare, etc? No, give to Tsunami relief.
