Are you in so. Cal. by any chance?

I am going to be doing some of the same tomorrow too, trim back bougenvillea damaged by the So. Cal. frost. They were beautiful but the frost killed htem off. I am not looking forward to getting stabbed by all the thorns.

On my way to work I drive through some back, rural roads. Avocado trees suffered some real heavy damage. they have all been trimmed back to stumps. The remaining stumps have been covered with some white powder.

Bot, do you know what that may be?

The price of guacamole is goign to be wayyyyyyyyyyyy high over the next couple of years.

This morning my son and I went to the local airport. He worked on the Spitfire (if any of oyu guys has $150k to spare, let us know, the engine needs a major overhaul and the old prop is shot ).

After we returned I did some work on the cars. Installed a burlwood and leather shifter on the 300CE (had it in my parts cabinets for years and I almost gve it away a year ago!). Cleaned all the crud out of the shifter area and the plastic thingy that covers the shift pattern numbers (the instructions in the DIY link here are great). Also cleaned the rubber boot. man that area catches a lot of crud. The PO must have spilled soda, coffee and God knows what else there (she has little kids!) But now it looks just like it did the day it came out of the factory.

Was so prooud of my handywork that I decided to do the same with the 300TE. Now the shifter area of the 300TE also looks like the day it came out of the factory.

Then I gave the 300CE a quick wash. Nice, very nice.

Love DST, the extar hours of sunlight give me time to do so much extra stuff.

Tomorrow--yardwork!

Right now I am watching a Rolling Stones special on the local PBS station (it is pledge time).

Damn, I had forgotten how young Mick and Keith once looked. Come to think about it, I too looked real young once...

Tempus fugit, tempus indeed fugit for all of us.

Make the best of the time you got.

Goodbye and goodnight!

Word to the wise...

When trimming back bougainvillea and roses, be sure to wear long sleeves.

I did not and OUCH!

My arms look like I tried to roundup a bunch of stray cats!

I ditched work and went and saw The Shooter this afternoon. It was a really good action move. Mark Wahlberg pulled it off.

Sadly, I will be firing up the lawn mower to begin another season of mowing, threshing, and reaping. I was all excited about the longer days and warmer weather until I looked at my lawn this morning.

After that, I'll be doing some wood working. Making my honey something for her birthday.

I'm thinking about pulling the boat out and getting the winter cover and frame off. Let it air out a bit.

Probably dig our the mower and get it ready to go. I've got a lot of ruts and some high spots to level out so maybe I'll drag a roller over the yard.

My 9yoS has a 3-on-3 basketball fundraiser tourney for most of the day Sunday so I'll be there for that.

You guys are just starting to mow now?

Man oh howdy.....when my St. Augustine went dormant in late October, I overseeded with winter rye, and having been mowing ever since.

It seems crazy, but I actually enjoy the physical work of lawn and garden maintenance. Plus, I get to see a green lawn all winter.

I just picked up 18 cubic yards of shredded cedar mulch today at the nursery.

Planning on mulching the front flower beds and continue my two year project of cleaning up the back slope, replanting with honeysuckle, and mulch, mulch mulch.

Getting the W124 back from the shop this weekend after replacing the head gasket (and other repairs)...been there 3 weeks!

Getting a used tranny shipped to me for the same car. The W124 should be golden after that (yeah right).

Also replacing damaged parts on the portable basketball goal (fell hard one weekend when 70 mph gusts came through).

So what did you have him do in addition to the head gasket?

Exclamation *** Ow! ***

Right now, I'm taking a break from writing up RFEs (Request-For-Equipment/Expenditure) for all the crap that happened last Friday (Winding shorted out on a 3-phase/480V/10HP motor) - at 11PM Friday night, I ended up driving to Quincy, IL., then back to Colfax, WI., through some of the thickest pea-soup fog I've driven in in a LONG time (35mph for 5 hours...), then getting the replacement motor, then driving back, installing that 170# POS in a space that's intended to protect equipment (not people) from the elements, and then hitting the "GO" button and being back on the "air" at 3:10AM Sunday morning...

I ain't as nimble and young as I thought I was...

As for tonight, I have to go back to the Colfax site and replace either/both circuit boards, in the Control/Logic section of the transmitter, that MAY have been damaged during the initial outage when the motor took out 2-20Amp. fuses.

What's a weekend?
