That's what I figured it had to be because of gas prices. So what should I do? I don't want to take a huge loss, wish I could break even from what I paid. If I have to take to much of a loss I guess I will just have to hold onto the car. What do you guys suggest?

Unless there's a financial emergency, I'd just keep it.

NO it's not an emergency. I just figured since like you said gas prices were getting high, and repair costs are high this is a good time for me to sell it. So now I have to think, should I take a loss now and sell it or wait even longer and maybe take a bigger loss?

The acceleration was great, but if you're anything like me you'll soon get used to it and it won't impress you that much anymore. That's the main reason I sold mine and it's just too much of a car to just drive to work. I suppose if you participate in amateur races like some Vette owners do it would be more fun and it would justify prolonged ownership.

If you have trouble finding completed auctions for similar cars, pretty much the only thing left is to put yours on the market and see what it can get for you. You could try Ebay with a reserve or just put it on Craigslist or cars.com for a while. Personally I think Ebay is the quickest and easiest way to sell, but it won't necessarily get you the best price (and neither will the others).

True, accelleration is nice, but if I want to go fast, I will get into the Camaro.

You're asking a very tough question. Do you take a loss now, or a bigger one later? Who knows, maybe gas prices will come down, maybe they'll go higher.. I know what I would do, but that's just me. I would put it under a cover, drive it up and down the driveway once a week, and cover it back up. You can pull the reg and ins, and it won't cost you anything. Wait, I have no idea where you live, I have a sort of long driveway with tons of room, so I can get away with it. I don't think you want to pay $80 a month storage fees either.. Tough call for you.

That's not an option for me, the mercedes is a daily driver for me. My camaro is about 45 miles away at my parents house and isn't a daily driver.

I live at an apartment complex with no driveway I have a back space in the back but that's it. So not driving the mercedes isn't an option. I'm either keeping the mercedes or selling it for another daily driver.

Exactly. That is why I keep modifying it. Gets faster and faster.

damn thats pretty crazy, I checked most of california and think I only came up with 1 listing.

What's weird is that they range from 4,995 dollars all the way up to 12,000 dollars how can one car range that much?

And when checking on blue book and stuff they list the value at like 6,000 dollars I dont see how this is possible I have Never seen a sel 600 1992 or so sell that cheap?/

Considering that my friend can't get $10k for his mint 1997 S320 with 80k miles(best offer over the past 6 months has been $9,500)...I'd advertise yours for $5k and hope. Big engine, lots of miles= no resale. Its not a collectable car by any measure so the fact that its somewhat rare is meaningless.

Condition, mileage, the cost of the most recent financial disaster/repair, owner delusion...take your pick, mix-and-match.

Yea gas mileage is real good compared to what I get right now. I'm not into the c4's at all though. I just don;'t like the bodystyle of them at all.

I like the older corvettes, but nothing really in the 80's all the way up to the mid 90's. 1997 is the first year of the body style I like.

I found that the vettes after the C4 are quite liveable and easy to drive on a daily basis. They aren't rattly at all really. They were able to soften the suspension some because the chassis is so much stiffer and tighter than the 4th gen cars (and before). They are way more car than I'd ever really want though, very very high handling limits.
