Apparently, since being given a future isn't the same as compensation for the past.

Hard to say. Your question is too open ended. If the choice is life with no possibility of parole or parole will be when I am 99 yo, absolutely. I'd rather be dead

If you're that concerned about the lifers' emotional well-being, then you could give a life sentence with the inmate being given a suicide capsule to use at their discretion.

I'm not and yes, they should have that option. I always believed that if you say it is your life, it is yours to do with as you please.

My point was that by taking a perp's life you are doing the same thing IN P{PRINCIPLE as incarceration from the standpoint that you are taking something you can never give back. The only difference being that the punishers can talk themselves into believing that if a mistake was made, they can make it right by tossing the ex-perp, current victim a few bucks, sweep it under the rug and go home to bed.

So, smart enough to get picked for this particular jury duty?

Circle of life . . . the only reason for it is that there's an audience. An audience that seems to rabidly consume stories about the misfortunes of middle class Caucasian young women.

That must also be the Jerry Springer, National Inquirer et al, audience.

Apparently five jurors got trips to Disneyworld for interviews with ABC News.

..if you live around here (as they do) that has to be worse than being sequestered for 6 weeks.
