Maybe this is all a dream.

My absolute non terror based worse dream was working like a slave in it. I cannot remember now but I thought I even woke up tired from it. Anyways there was no repeat episode of that particular format occuring again that I am aware of. No loss there either. First difficult dream I remember very well. I had asked my grandmother perhaps at about the age of three. What the pressure cooker she was using did and the function of the pressure valve was. That night the cooker exploded in the same room I was in. I had to wait in the dream for the pressure to build first of course. The pressure relief valve had been disabled. Knowing all along what the outcome of this was to be. She also had a cat that had scratched someone at about the same time frame. So that particular night the cat became a serious risk as it tore everyone up with no escape possible from it in the dream. Berfore I was totally cognizant of clocks and time I watched the second hand rotate away hour after hour. Somehow I knew that once around with one hand was an hour. My mind seemingly transposed the second hand for the minute hand. So portions of early seemingly traumatic dreams seem to be retained to some extent. Or buried in the subconcious perhaps. I guess I have seen time fly so to speak as even at that age I had anxiety feelings at the time I was immersed in it with the fast clock. I imagine many members remember the expression sweet dreams from parents. Some things are pretty universal. One last thought on dreams. Generally since they feel simular to being awake or at least of no discernable differance. When us guys where really young why sex was not a constant dream obsession. It certainly was a obsession when awake at times. I am not aware of whatever blocking metholigy the brain uses in this area to have prevented that. Or was it in the subconcious very deep and what was driving the waking issues? I did interview an individual once that had experienced a brain injury. He claimed it was basically porn issues like a movie going on in his brain 24/7. Sleeping or awake the movie ran. . All his waking functions shared the issue at the same time. He stated he was very tired of them but unable to stop them. Yet he still managed to work with this major impediment. He had mastered thinking of more things than one at the same time I suspected. Actually it to me was quite suprising if he was telling the truth insanity was not evident. If not it shows the ability of some people to cope with what to others may be impossible situations. True nymphomania for example may result from deficiency or overactive issues in this region of the brain. Or other sexual based excesses. Last edited by barry123400; 07-18-2012 at 07:24 PM. |

When I was a kid I used to sleepwalk. when i was about 8 or 9 one night I got up and walked out the back door. My dad heard me and followed me outside. I walked around the side of the house and up the hill. he had heard it was traumatic to wake up a sleepwalker so followed me for a while eventually guiding me back in the house.
I continued to sleepwalk well into my teens. Now I just wake up but this morning the Mrs said I shouted in my sleep, waking her up, then apologizing. I had no memory of it.

Only once did I tend to do something equivelant to sleepwalking. As I woke up I found myself on the verge of urinating beside the bed while standing up. I did not remember either waking up or getting out of the bed.
Normally and always if there is a need to urinate during the night I just wake up and go to a bathroom. Since we sleep in several different bedrooms the first order of business is to make sure I know what one we are in before finding out by crashing into something in the dark. Orientation is hard if it is dark enough. I could turn a bedside lamp on but light wakes the wife up.. She follows the same protocal if she feels the need as well. Then there is always the dog sleeping equidistant from the bedroom doors in whatever hallway is between the bedroom and the washroom to navigate over. He gravitates from a happy go lucky family pet during the balance of the day. To a serious family protection unit at night. It is an automatic thing with him that we never taught him. I would never want to be a stranger that the dog did not recognise in the dark while we were asleep. I am not sure how he identifies us when it is totally dark. Being on the recieving end of what he could dish out would be horrific. He is large, heavy, and has a set of teeth that scare people when he barks. Yet during the daytime he would not hurt anyone. Alcohol was not involved during my getting up while asleep issue. Drug use by society was in it's infancy then except heroin perhaps. So it was not a factor either. Strange that type of thing only happened once to my knowledge. This area of discussion reminds me of that old joke. The guy was complaining that everytime he opened the bathroom door at night the light came on. His wife just told him you have got to stop urinating in the fridge.
