This is a GREAT explanation of how this goes.

He seems to be successful in business. He's been around in politics since 2001.
Darrell Issa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

From what I could find, I cannot say he's any worst (or better) than our illustrious commander-in-chief, consitutional scholar, civil rights leader, nobel peace prize recipient, amd community organizer of a president.

Something to be said about earning $450 million. I see why he's no friend of B.O., who wants to take away about 65%, to redistribute to his tax voting base. Those who support the social progressive agenda have good reason to keep him around ... he's worth at least $300M in gifts and that buys a lot of votes these days.

My $.02

Obama is on the cusp of becoming a lame duck. Heard some yesterday bemoaning he only has less that 1,000 days left in his presidency.
My guess? It'll be a fait accompli come Thanksgiving. You can then stick a fork in his presidency at the same time you check your turkey. After Christmas, they all start running for re-election just as Obamacare becomes law of the land.

Did the NFL really decline to run ads explaining the HC law this fall?

He might get some form of immigration reform passed. Sooner or a bit later the debt ceiling wll have to be increased. Maybe that'll need to get raised before the end of this year.

But the longer Putin keeps this kid in a Moscow air terminal, the sooner it'll be that comparisons to Carter & the Iranian hostages will start being heard.

Hasn't Obama traded "spies" with Putin already?

The kid in the terminal is in no way similar to the hostage crisis.

There may be comparisons made between Snowden and the Iranian Hostages but not by anyone that knows what they are talking about.

By the way.... There is no problem with letting Putin get tired of Snowden. From my dealings with Russians if there is nothing in it for them they are finished with the matter very quickly. The Russians are not big on making symbolic gestures; they go right for power. If they can gain from it they stick with it.

But if they fell they are being used they will turn on you in a heartbeat. If Snowden is a thorn in their side they will find a way to remove that thorn, and if Snowden is not giving them an exclusive on the intel then they will have no incentive to put up with him.

The Russians I have dealt with would not spend a dime on information they can read in the newspapers. When this becomes clear to Snowden he will start to reach out in a big way to other countries.

And Ecuador? They have something to sell and right now they are haggling with the US over the price. There is a reason Snowden is not on his way to Ecuador right now, and it is not because Putin will not let him leave the airport.

"Go right for power" ... like the Iranians in the hostage crisis, for example.

The Iranians were trying to get the US to return the Shah. Carter told them to drop dead.

Then the Shah died and the Iranians had a major problem on their hands. Every Embassy in Iran was wondering what would become of their people and Iran was becoming more and more isolated every day. The real government of Iran was stuck between the Rule of the Grand Leader and the economic forces of the rest of the world and they were looking for a way out of the hole they had dug for themselves.

Iran found a face saving way out of their situation when Reagan was being sworn in. They released the hostages at the same time so Networks would be forced to choose between covering Reagan or covering the hostage release. So the Nets just covered both at the same time with split screens.

Iran had seen what Carter would do with a small Special Forces group and knew what Reagan would do with the entire of the US military. So they caved.

They overplayed their hand. Snowden is very close to doing the same.

There is now a story going around that Snowden has applied for asylum in Russia. Putin was saying the other day this could come about, but Snowden would not be allowed to reveal anymore secrets if such asylum were granted.

Looks like the Ecuador trip did not work out, but it is still early.

By the way.... The name for all of this, among those in the Spook biz, is 'The Great Game'.

It may be difficult to get a Conservative to admit it, but Snowden is feeling the heat from Obama.

He just released a letter that sort of rambles on and really shows how is mind is going, going.... Gone.

Snowden is finding out that he is currently a man without a country. The US has said he can come to the US anytime but he will have to face some charges when he gets here. Other than that it is just a life of doing nothing; not quite what he was expecting when he set out on this path.

And when this is all over it looks like the worst thing he will be able to say about Obama is that Obama treated him with respect.

At least he will have succeeded in f**king over a disgusting US program that should have never existed. He did good, and did the right thing. If he can escape being railroaded by the Dumberican INjustice system, so much the better for him.

How about that Obama allowed gross invasions of privacy to go on under his watch? Obama is as much of a scumbag as the guy who came before him in this respect (and a lot of others). Frankly, he should be impeached for knowingly allowing agencies under the executive branch to do what they did.

Snowden did his DUTY, and every American who cares about the Constitution should get down on his/her knees and THANK him for doing his job.

Thank goodness Obama isn't responsible for our spy agencies.
