I am a big believer that education of everyone to the best of their abilities is best for the country. I qualified for grants and loans and received a small scholarship for academics. My generation is the first that basically benefitted from the idea that everyone should be able to go to college if they had the ability and desire. I did my five years of college and paid off all my loans in a few years or so and think its a great system.

Doubling the interest rate for student loans as the R's want to do and trumpeting it as a benefit will not be believed by the young people attending college now.

Maybe you don't believe that higher education for the youth of America will enable our great country to have someone ready to lead our nation in tech/industry/science??? Guess you believe that is the job of China??
I for one would gladly see $$ being spent educating our youth and keeping alive the concept of America as a leader in the world.... Most of us who envision our country in that way are probably not sucking on a tarnished silver spoon....

Yeah.... doesn't take a lot for those born to privilege.

I would apologize for my "position," (whatever that means) were I to be guilty of something.

Unfortunately, and to the chagrin of some, my Parents were very strong providers for their family.

Them's the facts......

So someone whose parents died in a car wreck when they were 12 should have less of a chance than you? Way to go! I hope you're joking/trolling.

Unfortunately, edu have learned that they can charge what the traffic will bear - as I previously wrote. Whether you can pay it - that's up to the individual(s) involved to figure out. I don't see the choices OR numerous opportunities at hand - being all that bad, all things considered.......as some seem to see disaster(s). Community colleges are local and cheap. It's not that hard to shop. Shop around for your edu, the opportunities abound - still.......

Why make all these over-the-top posts, spdrun?
Your political agenda posts bashing this or that aren't much fun to read. Especially when it's just blowing off personal steam. Think again before posting that stuff if you will, plse.

He's just blowing off some sort of steam, IMO. I don't think he likes Texans either.

Yep, let the free market work at it. The only reason colleges can charge so much is because people pay it. They are able to pay it because its super easy to get loans.
