TX and evolution... this state is ass backwards
Every time I see stuff like this I just have to shake my head in disbelief and hope that the kids in our schools some how manage to discover the truth on their own because they sure as heck will not find it out in our school system so long as the religious right has a hand in the school boards.

If the religious right had their way, the earth would still be flat. I don't pay much attention to the stupid states of the south, but I always wonder how they explain the existance of "fossil" fuel.

As discussed many time before, the sheer size of Texas' educational book purchases for their schools leads to publishers "catering" to the Lone Star State's book reviewers. Since publishers don't sell just a "Texas Edition" other states wind up with the same books.
There have been expressions of this becoming part of history as more "e-books" find their way into the educational system, which would allow for a "Texas Only" edition to be easily distributed.

I don't think it has much to do with the separation of religion and state. Most European countries don't have separation of church and state, yet they don't teach this nonsense in science classes. It's a failure to understand the difference between science and non-science. I bet you'd have a hard time finding a Catholic high school using a creationist text in a science class.
