Plowing snow
Woke up this morning to about 4" of fresh wet snow. Another three or four inches have fallen today. The last few days I have been working to get my plow truck operating. We installed a new pump motor on the plow a year or so ago so I never expected any trouble with that. Wrong!
The motor was seized up. I took it apart and lubricated it. No luck. Then I pulled off the end and found a broken and stuck brush. I ran around and bought a new one of those yesterday and installed it....still seized. I pulled it apart more last night and found the magnets inside the motor casing were broken up. So I bought a whole new pump motor and installed it this morning, taking care to seal up the cracks with silicone to prevent moisture inside the motor. Works smooth as silk. I also bought a flashing yellow light for the roof....the light works like a charm. The snow is so heavy I cannot push it very far with the blade sitting straight with the truck. The yellow light makes me so official I may try pulling some folks over and giving them a citizens arrest. (just kidding). ![]()
