President Obama has been referred to on this forum as a drug abuser for his admission to having tried drugs. If he is then yeah, you are too.
Own it, DOPER!

Yeah, if I were to believe all the druggies on this forum, it would certainly appear that being a junkie is better than living a clean life.

There are indeed some things that seem best to have a strong commitment not to indulge in.

I'm not saying you guys can't enjoy your drugs. If you choose to put your family and yourself through hell or even if you want to kill yourself, go for it. For me though, I'm quite content with my clean living.

Enjoy.

In Obama's book he did not indicate that he simply TRIED drugs. He made it clear that he "enthusiastically" used drugs.

Now that's some real executive qualification for you. The fact that the average American seems to be perfectly good with that shows just how deep in the sewer this country has sunk.

So did probably 50% of people growing up in the late 70s/early 80s, whether they choose to cop to it or not.

So that makes it the right thing to do?

It makes him a product of his time. How many politicians of the 1940s and 1950s had a history of drinking like fish during 1920s Prohibition? ... probably quite a few

Hell, JFK's family made their money importing booze during those times.

Who are "all the druggies on this forum"? Would medicinal marijuana use make someone a druggie in your book?

How did you identify them? They tested dirty or something?

What about the juicers on this forum? Do they get a free pass? If not who are they and how did you spot them.

Not picking on you but this seems to be a somewhat hyperbolic blanket condemnation and simplistic vilification.

Is one of the things you have 'a strong commitment not to indulge in' reading?

You are so vehement in your loathing of drug use and users, and yet when a thread is started which highlights a country's effective methodology of combating the problem, you cannot even deign to read the article and see the remarkable benefits that the country has experienced.
By removing the criminal aspect of use, and treating the user rather than incarcerating the user (generally speaking treatment is cheaper than incarceration as well, so that should appeal to your fiscal conservative nature) Portugal has helped reduce the number of addicts in their country.
How can you possibly spin that into a bad thing?
Is not the goal, (and your preferred reality) that there would be no drug addicts, or at least fewer??

I am completely baffled by your take on this subject.
All I can figure is that you would rather punish people than help them, which does not seem to be a very Christian way of living.... and that is also contrary to your presented persona....

He just likes to troll, I find it amazing that he is allowed back half a million times but Brian steps one foot in the wrong and gets his head chopped off for good.

That's closer to a place between tragic and pathetic, rather than amazing.

Larry is amazing. I've never encountered anyone who manages to adhere so closely to the creed that morality and critical thought are diametrically opposed.

Oh bullshyte. Arguing to extreme to make a straw man nobody supports is a superficial approach to a difficult problem. It gives you justification to dismiss everybody who disagrees with your position, even if their position is not too different from your own. We are not 'either with you or against you'. There are a wide array of opinions, not just yours and everybody else's.

Let's start from the simple: Do you own your own body? If your answer is in the affirmative then it is yours to treat and dispose of as you wish. If the gov owns your body then the gov gets to tell you how to use it.

Take abortion, for example. If a woman owns her body then the gov has no business in her uterus. If the gov owns her body then the gov has a stake in how she uses her uterus.

If the gov owns your body then the gov can (and should) have an interest in your medical condition -- the sole justification for socialized medicine.

If you cede ownership responsibility of your body to the government or anybody else then you are in essence, their slave. It's not your body, it's theirs.
