Most cars on the roadway are already effectively driverless, so it would be a big + imo, plus what a great benefit for being in a car and getting and/or being loaded!!!

I'd rather see autonomous over the road trucks. That is where this technology will really be useful. The trucks can run 24/7 with little to no downtime(regular maintenance and fueling).

So has air travel. No reason to believe the same will not happen for automated ones. I was told by a 777 pilot the thing can take off, fly and land with out him e en touching the controls.
