I don't know -- plenty of highly intelligent people also have a hell of a temper. Read about Harlen Ellison for a notorious example. I have a friend who's a software geek. She calls people names pretty frequently when she's riled up, yet she'd bend over backwards to help the same people when she's done having a temper tantrum.

Still, I'd rather have police be trained (and ordered) to do everything to diffuse a situation involving someone with a bad temper rather than aggravating it.
