Owned '92, Own '95 Euro

Hi,

I have loved both of my 500Es, they are simply fabulous cars. Unequaled build quality, a proper wolf in sheep's attire. My '92 endured 300k miles and about 25 HPDE track days, and was only...

Mark,

If that was your car that hit something unmoveable smack dab in the center of the grille, then I have your trunklid, some door & window seals, the cooling fan for the CAN box, and a couple...

Talking E500 Euro restoration project

Hello all,

As some of you know, my beloved '92 500E was rear-ended and totaled back in October by a distracted driver in an ML350, of all things. The car did it's job and I walked way unscathed,...

Fredericksburg VA-Anyone nearby?

Hi everyone,

Well, my 500E has been totaled thanks to a knucklehead in an ML350 that couldn't bother paying attention to what was in front of him (in this case, my 500E). Hit me hard enough to...

Cam not suspect

The cam looks as-new; no scoring or visible wear.

What concerns me is that in the MBZ service manual it indicates that a hardened cam should be installed with the hardened followers. If I...

Your diff is fine, your car simply has an open (non-limited slip) diff so that's how it behaves. If you were to hold the pass side wheel, you'd see the driver's side turning :-)

M103-hardened rockers w/old cam?

Hello all,

My 300TE (1988) recently developed a valve tapping noise, which I just determined was a worn rocker arm. The cam lobes all look fine, surprisingly, but the old-style rocker arm is...

Almandine Rot

My car's Garnet Red, the same as the 500E fetured recently in The Star. I think there are only maybe three in the US, but I cannot confirm this. I don't even like Red much, but I find this color...

Replacement source

I got mine from Sachs directly. They gave them to me free as warranty replacements (I'd bought a new pair thru MBZ about 2 yrs prior, and MBZ's warranty is only 1 yr, whereas Sachs is lifetime)....

Bad pads?

I drove a fellow board member's 500E once, and similarly the car barely stopped (though the travel was considerable if you pushed Very hard). I mean, pushing nearly all the way to the floor I...

Well, I checked for continuity across the ceramic resistor behind the headlight: seems fine.

Pulled the relay cover off, pulled each module & re-installed them. None had a visible fuse.
