could anybody shoot me an overview of what I'd need to do to put a memory function on the passenger side of my 93 300e...which sadly didn't have that option installed...surely it involves more than just replacing the switch...perhaps some sensors/motors...just some general guidance would be appreciated. thanks..

I don't think you could ever get a 124 e-class with pass-side memory seat. BUT...
you will need the switch with extra buttons, the wiring harness which connects it (a duplicate of what's in driver's door) plus all of the hardware from the driver's seat. Plug it all in, voila, pass-side memory seat in a 124. As you move the seat, the motor sends impulses to a small memory module for every revolution it makes. The module "counts" how many impulses the motor sends as you move the seat away from the initially "memorized" setting. Then, when you press the memory button, the module supplies power to the motor for the number of impulses each seat motor moved away. That's how it works! I have memory for both seats in my Range Rover, but never use the pass side.

ahh...thanks a lot...yeah when i said installed i meant offered my head is elsewhere today...it would come in handy only b/c my fiance', and my father and uncle ride in that seat and all of them vary quite a bit in size thus making it "a pain" for her to keep moving the seat back to where she likes it...she's almost as high maintenance as the damn car...but i'd also like to try and save the motors a tiny bit since she tends to hunt for the position...really the only option missing on my car is the rear sunshade which probably would've saved the piping on the rear headrests...which have since turned brown...just another weekend super happy fun time thing...i figured the seat was just reversing the driver side but ya never know with MB...but cheers to you for helping me out...

i have a habit of exagerating...its more her hunting for the position that annoys me since i don't enjoy the hum of those tiny motors...not to mention that fact i can say "oh yeah i have a memory passenger seat"...it'll help me attract future ex wives...but she can still be a pain in the ass...

From another angle, it may be a blessing to exercise that power seat regularly.

Case in point, on my friend's 1995 W202, the first power window to fail (busted regulator) is the one used the least -- the left rear one, which was used perhaps once in a few months.

good point...but every other week i put all the windows up and down (and the sunroof) and run the seats through their ranges...it fits right in with vacuuming anyway since i put the seats all the way back then all the way forward anyway...good practice...nice thought...thanks...

i too make it a point to work these things on my car regularly, but not as vigorously as 'through their ranges'. definitely something for me to learn. thanks !
