OK here is the deal. Flame me if you want to, but I don't care. I am changing the bulbs in the car. I have OEM HID lights and I want to change the rest of the bulbs.

The main beams are H7 and are easy to get out. These will be chaged to either Phillips VisionPlus or Phillips Blue Vision.

I can't get at the foglights, so I don't know the bulb type, but these will be changed to Phillips All-Weather bulbs. White foglights do nothing in the fog. Anyone know what bulb type these are?

That brings me to the parking light or "city light" in the headlight below the main beam. If I go with the Blue Vision bulb, I want to change the bulb to a Blue Vision bulb, except I can't get it out. I didn't want to pull too hard and break off the wires. Anyone got any ideas? Anyone know what kind of bulb it is?

Thanks a bunch.

Dan

You gave me the invitation to flame you, so here I go.

It sounds like you care more about what the car looks like than how well you can see. These blue lights look cool but they don't make as much light. At least this car has great lights, so you have some light you can afford to lose. If you were doing this to a 124 with US lights, it would make driving at night like you were holding a candle up in the windshield.

I do however realize that it's your car, your money and your business. I guess I don't understand because I was so pleased to get a Benz with US lights that I could actually see with.

Have a great day,

Rebuttle to the flame

Actually, the Phillips Blue Vision lights that I am referring to have exactly the same light output as the OEM Phillips halogen bulbs that are in the high beam right now. You can find the information and specs on the bulbs at http://www.autolamps-online.com.

Since the car already has the OEM HID low beams, which give the Canadian car European spec headlights, the light output is already amazing.

I do know of the cheap "Blue" imitation HID lights, and the Phillips are nothing like them. The produce an almost white light, with very little blue. See this link for more info: http://www.eur.lighting.phillips.com

I have these bulbs in my MK4 Jetta (which has European spec lights) and there are terriffic. However, I do appreciate your reply and just wanted to set the record straight.

Since you do not like the Blue Vision lights, I suggest that you look into getting some Phillips Vision Plus high beam bulbs if you want even more lighting performance. These are not sold in the States, but can be found in Canada. The easiest place to get them is at http://www.fosmo.com

Now if I could only get the bulb info

I'm not sure which "New C" you are refrencing but the 97-2000 version of the C class has the following bulbs in the HID config. The city light is a W5W, the fog light is an H1 and the High beam is H1. My setup right now is OEM Fogs, Bluevision in the City Light that machtes better with the HID, and Vision Plus in the High Beams.

The city light was replaced only because it gave the HID light a yellow tinge which I found displeasing. The fog light was left alone, because I havent had the need to use fogs, and the Vision Plus was used for the 50% more light that will be useful in circumstances when high beams are used. As for getting the city bulbs out, the socket snaps in, there are actually grips for grasping it with two fingers. Pull hard enough, it will snap out.
